Some might agree that the 1996 television show, Sabrina The Teenage Witch is one of the most iconic renditions of the popular character. It was one of the hottest television shows on air. The main cast included Melissa Joan Hart, Beth Broderick, Caroline Rhea, Nate Richert, and more.

The series became a cult phenomenon for years to come, but some fans and viewers today may not have realized just how star-studded the cast was. The show included an array of guest stars that were not only popular during the show’s run but are still well-known today. Some might even surprise the die-hard fans when realizing who made an appearance.

10 Raquel Welch

Raquel Welch is a highly credited actress and singer who made herself known for her role in a popular film in the ’60s titled Fantastic Voyage. She then won a Golden Globe for her role in the 1974 film The Three Muskateers. In Sabrina The Teenage Witch, she made a guest appearance in the episode, “Third Aunt from the Sun.”

She played one of Sabrina’s aunts, Aunt Vesta. Her character originally makes her appearance as a substitute teacher at her school. But Sabrina finds something peculiar about her and then servers it to be her aunt. Her aunt hatches a plan to try and persuade Sabrina to move to the Other Realm.

9 Penn And Teller

The famous magical duo, Penn and Teller became hit guest stars on the show. Penn Jillette made a handful of appearances as Drell, a powerful witch, and head of The Witches Council. He makes most of his appearance in the first season. His character was once in a relationship with Hilda.

Skippy is the character played by Teller and is only seen in the first season along with Penn. Skippy is also a member fo the Witches Council. Unlike his partner, he is mute and is known for his kindness and disapproves of Drell’s attitude towards humans.

8 Simon Helberg

This will be a serious blast from the past and a complete shock to some fans. The Big Bang Theory star Simon Helberg, who played Howard Wolowits, once had a small cameo in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Helberg was just starting out in the industry when he made this appearance.

He appeared in “Time After Time” as a support technician to a time travel website Sabrina uses. Zelda is distraught over the breakup, so Sabrina uses magic and technology to go back in time to help Zelda. Her spell causes her family’s history to rewrite itself and asks for help from Helberg’s character.

7 Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston is no stranger to the television screen. When Cranston made his appearance on the show, he was more known for his role as Tim Whatley on Seinfeld. He later became known for the classic sitcom show Malcolm in the Middle and later on in the hit crime drama show, Breaking Bad as Walter White.

Cranston appeared in the first season in “Troll Bride.” He played the role of a Witch Lawyer. While Sabrina is in her own dilemma trapped inside the troll’s castle, Zelda and Hilda have a backup plan. They hire a Witch lawyer to try and break the contract that Sabrina made with Roland the troll. His character is described as having “great legs.”

6 Paula Abdul

Paul Abdul is only one of the many musical stars that made an appearance on the show. She played herself and was part of a side storyline with Salem. As Sabrina is in trouble after using an aging cream that renders her too old, Salem concocts a plan to try and meet Paula Abdul.

Salem’s plan to meet her doesn’t go so well. Paula Abdul is one of those famous people that really doesn’t need to play any other characters but herself. Her alone adds more than enough intrigue to an episode.

5 Usher

In “I Think I Love You,” one of the greatest musical artists for romance, Usher made his appearance. Comically enough, Usher played the role of The Love Doctor. Sabrina is unable to say “I Love You” back to Josh after he confesses his feelings for her.

Instead, her voice comes outs bizarre and not her own. Her aunt tells her there’s only one person that can help her, The Love Doctor. The doctor tells her what to do in the only way he can, by singing a song. All while wearing a doctor’s lab coat and nurse backup singers.

4 Coolio

Coolio was another guest star that played himself on the show in “A Girl and Her Cat.” Salem is driving Sabrina up the wall when he destroys her Christmas sweater and later gets her kicked out of the local pizzeria. She leaves him in the alley but is later concerned when he doesn’t return for dinner.

A phone call reveals that Salem has been kidnapped. Sabrina and her aunts go look for clues and use a spell to bring to life Coolio from a poster to see if he has any information. They even joke if he’s able to get them tickets, but he sadly says he can’t because he’s only an alley poster.

3 Backstreet Boys And NSYNC

Seeing as the show took place in the late 90s to early 2000s, it’s no surprise that the show catered to famous pop bands of the time period. This included a special appearance from Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. In “The Band Episode,” Sabrina brews up a special soda that giver her and her band musical talent.

One soda seems to be missing but it’s soon drunk by a group of friends playing basketball at the school. These friends gain musical abilities and turn into the Backstreet Boys. In “Sabrina and the Pirates,” NSYNC makes an appearance as themselves when Sabrina and her friend try to get into an Over-18 club to watch then perform.

2 Britney Spears

In “No Place Like Home,” teen pop sensation Britney Spears made her debut as a guest star in the episode. Sabrina takes a chance to go to Paris to live with ehr father after her normal life goes into disarray.

She’s a bit upset that she is missing out on a Britney Spears concert. Her father has the perfect solution and makes Spears appear out of thin air in the living room. A mini-concert just for her but it soon turns into a bit of girl talk to help Sabrina figure out what she should do with her dilemmas. Spears was at the height of her musical career at the time so her appearance in the show caused a buzz. There are even some juicy details about what her and Hart got up to off set. 

1 RuPaul

American top famous drag queen, singer, model and television personality, RuPaul did once appear on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The host and creator of the hit show RuPaul’s Drag Race played the role of a witch judge and a hairdresser. Decked out in her drag persona, RuPaul is called in to help fix Sabrina’s hair.

As the scene progresses, Sabrina spills the beans that she used a spell to try and get Hilda and Zelda back together so they can all be a family again. Hilda and Zelda then admit that they played Sabrina in order to teach her a valuable lesson. She doesn’t believe them seeing as she was called to the witches council. RuPaul changes looks and turns into a witch judge.
