An alluring new fan illustration shows Sailor Moon‘s Usagi with emerging new powers that might give Naruto‘s Sasuke a run for his money.

In Naoko Takeuchi’s Sailor Moon, the Sailor Scouts or Sailor Senshi are a group of magical warriors sent to Earth to protect the galaxy from evil. The manga focuses on Usagi Tsukino, a teenage girl who realizes she’s the reincarnation of Princess Serenity and the magical guardian Sailor Moon. As a guardian, each Scout is tasked with protecting a Sailor Crystal from her own planet which also acts as the source of her powers. Usagi’s powers come from her Silver Crystal a family heirloom passed down from her mother Queen Serenity and the most powerful amongst the Sailor Crystals. However, in Naruto, Sasuke’s Rinnegan is a powerful technique known amongst the Uchiha Clan which might cause trouble if a cosmic being like Sailor Moon were to get her hands on it.

Instagram fan art page @Phenomenalgeekart shared artist kuyajaypi’s beautiful fan piece of Sailor Moon awakening the Rinne-Sharingan. Usagi is also wearing her staple Sailor uniform with a Konoha village band on her arm which furthers the idea of her belonging to yet another royal family. Her powers have already bested the likes of ex-Sailor Guardian and supervillain Galaxia. However, if the princess were to gain a Rinnegan that allows her to see past illusions the likes of it happening is plausible given the loss Usagi’s gone through.

To gain access to the Rinnegan an Uchiha must first awaken their Sharingan eyes, a process that includes rigorous training and the experience of a major loss, generally a family member. Sasuke overcame this feat after witnessing the death of his brother Itachi and gaining the Mangekyō Sharingan a technique that can use the Amaterasu and Susanoo.  In Usagi’s case, the loss of her mother, kingdom, lover, and friends in her previous life could have been enough to trigger a Sharingan but the manga’s final Stars Arc is where every Sailor Scout dies at the hands of Galaxia sets the standard for Naruto traumatic loss sequences.

As a Sharingan user, Usagi could gain access to formidable powers such as the Tsukuyomi, a special Sharingan Jutsu that allows a user to control space, time, and substance. The name comes from the Moon God found in Japanese mythology and Shinto religion. A perfect match for Usagi’s name which in Japanese translates to “rabbit” and is also associated with the Moon in Japan. Overall, the idea of Sailor Moon belonging to the Uchiha Clan is a fun concept that artist Kuya Jaypai brought to life in a breathtaking illustration.
