Sanjay And Craig is a weird but humorous Nickelodeon show about twelve-year-old Sanjay and his anthropomorphic pet snake. Unsurprisingly, a show aimed at ages six and above contains a lot of childlike humor, including a talking snake who wears his hat backward, numerous episodes about farts, and a few more episodes on number twos.

The show was not a particular Nickelodeon success, running for only three seasons. But, what it lacked in longevity, the animated cartoon made up for in absurdity and surreal humor that made viewers laugh. Some of the show’s humor entered into crass or stereotypical territory, but the show has a simplicity that is charming.

10 Making Beats You Can Smell

Sanjay and Craig want to create the best song ever. To do so, they record their farts, using their gassy rhythms to produce sick beats. The best friend duo visits a local food joint, The Frycade, to work on their art, looping fart sounds while others eat.

Worsening the situation, Sanjay adds new farts to his audio collection by farting on the café chairs to record the fart on the go. When asked to keep it down, Sanjay defends his art, postulating that they are “making beats you can smell.”

9 Enslaving The World Using Hot Sauce

Sanjay and Craig find a bottle of hot sauce that freezes anything it touches. When their neighbor, Mr. Noodman, feeds his prize-winning blueberries to his cat, Lady Butterscotch, he is unaware that it has the hot sauce on it. Lady Butterscotch freezes forever, pushing an already tethering Noodman over the cliff into madness.

Noodman avenges Lady Butterscotch by taking over the world. He becomes an evil wizard thanks to a meteor crashing into Earth. Then he amasses an evil army and rules in a dark castle, forcing a now-adult Craig to survive his dystopian world where he and everyone else in it are enslaved by Noodman.

8 Conjuring King Za, Master Of All Things Pizza

Sanjay wakes up craving pizza, so Craig promises to conjure him up some “za”. To do so, they head to the bathroom where Craig has built a temple in honor of King Za of Pizzazana. Sanjay does not believe Craig, however, and refuses to take the conjuring seriously. When prompted to say the magic words for the spell, Sanjay does it half-heartedly.

This brings upon him the curse of the mighty and parmesany King Za. Cursed forever, Sanjay’s family also suffer the curse, with his mom breaking her neck and ending up in hospital, his dad getting spicy chicken wings in his eye, and Sanjay himself falling off a cliff.

7 World’s First Gluteus Maximus Transplant

After The President of the USA needs emergency butt surgery, Noodman is left on the surgical table, waiting for his surgery, i.e. the world’s first gluteus maximus transplant. Craig pretends to be a “rad, awesome butt doctor” and volunteers to perform the surgery because he knows “what it is like to be buttless.” He wants the patient to be able to walk down the street with his “butt held high.”

Despite the surgery requiring a butt-ologist, Craig’s mom ends up performing the outside of the clinical theater, giving Noodman “forty inches of prime rump roast.” Post-surgery, Noodman is shown to be incredibly happy with his new butt.

6 Bloobie Smoothie

When Noodman finds Sanjay and Craig working at the blueberry smoothie stand, he eagerly asks for one. The blueberry-enthusiast enjoys the smoothie so much that he asks the stand owner how he makes it. The owner explains that Pick-A-Dog picks the best blueberries before they are then washed by the tongue of another dog in the sorting center.

Next, another disgusting dog peels the blueberries where they then reach the final stage. There, they are eaten by another mangy dog, Barfy, who chews them up and spits them right in the cup, fresh for serving.

5 Fart Baby

Sanjay really needs to toot in the shop, but he holds it in. This causes him some problems once he leaves the shop because the fart can no longer come out of his butt. Indeed, it travels up to his stomach, where it continues to grow. The scared boy visits the hospital, where his nurse mum gives him an ultrasound. He has a big ball of green, electrified methane gas growing in his stomach. He is going to have a fart baby.

The show’s titular duo then use this to their advantage, pranking everyone in the town. To make sure that they don’t lose the fart baby, they tape Sanjay’s butt with sellotape so that all his farts travel back into his stomach.

4 Adult Diapers

To get free wings, Sanjay and Craig soak in hot baths to get their skin really wrinkled. Stepping out as old men, Sanjay and Craig encounter more than they bargained for when they discover how fun being old can be.

They get free things, respect from everyone, and they get to be on the party bus for the elderly where they chug prune juice. Even better, they are introduced to adult diapers, so they spend the day having a wonderful adventure, with no need to stop to use the toilet.

3 Mick Mucus

Sanjay and his best friend want to enter a competition to win a brand new sports car. Unluckily for them, contestants have to be sixteen or over to enter. To make sure they do not lose the opportunity, they create a new persona, Mick Mucus.

Mick Mucus is just the both of them packed together into one trench coat. Dirty and mucusy, Mucus is actually a slightly offensive character, as he is portrayed as slow with a Southern accent and a nasty habit of spitting everywhere. The stereotype here is that people from the country are stupid, unsanitary, and without manners. Of course, that’s more or less par for the course for a show as low-brow as this.

2 Snake Rave

Craig has lost his wild side and wants to regain it. Sanjay, on the other hand, cautions Craig that he does not belong in the wild: he is too domesticated. In the wilderness, Craig meets a group of wild snakes with whom he has nothing in common. He then encounters a spider who taunts him for not being like one of the wild animals.

When a bear tries to attack Craig, the snake expertly defends himself, so the other snakes decide to let him in the group. Afterward, they lead him underground where Craig discovers a secret lair for snake raves, complete with strobe lights and techno music. There, the talking snake has a spiritual experience and remembers how to be wild again.

1 The Land Shark

When Sanjay decides he wants to be a snake in the wild, Craig must coach him on how to become one. Sanjay is a human boy, hence being a wild animal does not come naturally to him. In the wild, Sanjay also sees a lot of messed up things, like Craig swallowing a raccoon whole, Craig doing macramé, water gliding, and then branch dangling. Sanjay can do none of these. More to the point, he is terrified of the wild after seeing a rare and elusive land shark suddenly jump out of the bushes to swallow a squirrel whole.
