As the star of Sex & the City, Carrie Bradshaw became one of the most well-known and influential television characters out there. From her writing career and her trendy fashion choices to the bond she had with her gal pals and the ups and downs she went through romantically, her life made for a very entertaining story.

And like any human and TV character, she was made up of quirks, strengths, dislikes, characteristics, and weaknesses that made her more or less likable and relatable. That being said, look below to see Carrie’s five best and five worst personality traits on SATC.

10 A Talented Writer

As mentioned and as many know, Carrie Bradshaw was a writer. She gave advice and worked through her own issues by typing out thoughts and contributing articles to a variety of publications.

This was something that she really seemed to enjoy and excel at, and it was a job that allowed her to work from home, set her own hours, and live it up in the city that never sleeps.

9 Who Was Better At Giving Advice Than Taking It

SATC featured Carrie’s voiceovers regularly, as she would be writing, thinking, and speaking to viewers all at once. These lines usually revealed an internal struggle that she was having at the moment, and it also was published, as a way to assist others experiencing similar things.

Obviously, her pieces did well, as she kept getting assignments and kept submitting pieces. However, even as an expert and a professional, she did not always take her own advice, and she definitely did not have everything figured out, contrary to what her readers may have thought.

8 A Loyal Friend

A big part of this series was the relationship between Carrie Bradshaw and her three best friends: Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York. These women had varying interests, skills, and vibes, but they all shared a connection and loved meeting up for a cosmo or three.

Through six seasons and a couple of films, these BFFs went through exciting highs and devastating lows together. And through it all, Carrie remained a supportive, fun, and loyal friend.

7 Who Could Be Selfish

However, it should be remembered that she was flawed. So while these buds had each other’s backs, they also had fights and disagreements and low points.

When it came to Carrie, in particular, she could be quite selfish. She did have a great life, a thrilling career, men fighting over her and a drool-worthy closet, and she did, at times, only focus on herself.

6 A Trendsetting Fashionista

Speaking of that closet… Many times, when this character is mentioned, she is ranking high on lists of stylish TV characters. She loved mixing vintage pieces and luxury garments to create one-of-a-kind ensembles.

On and off the show, people were wowed by her outfits and, even more flattering, copied her looks!

5 Who Overspent

There has been talk that Carrie would not be able to afford her apartment, wardrobe, and lifestyle, based on her salary in NYC. And there were moments that showed she maybe was not great at managing money.

She maxed out credit cards, she couldn’t get a loan, and she seemed to immediately use her paycheck to buy yet another pair of expensive shoes.

4 A Sweet (& Sassy) Soul

Some more positive personality traits seen in this woman were her sweet and sassy vibes; on one hand, she was this angelic, caring soul, and on the other, she had a feistiness to her and turned heads wherever she went.

These two strong characteristics helped make her so appealing and powerful (to those around her, within her world, and to those who watched and do watch this show).

3 Who Didn’t Always Make The Best Decisions

So, she worked regularly, she dressed in a fabulous way, she led a charming and chic life in Manhattan… but, once again, it should be noted that Carrie could be a bit of a mess.

There were plenty of scenes that showed her freaking out to her friends, crying in her apartment, and bickering with love interests. She just didn’t always make the best decisions and could get really swept up in the moment. While this could be problematic, it did make her, at times, more relatable.

2 A True Catch

Finally, to summarize this dynamic character, she was a true catch. This list has gone on and on about her wonderful traits, and the success of SATC goes to show how intriguing Carrie really was.

Furthermore, since romance played a major part, there were so many people who flirted with Carrie, dated her, kissed her, proposed to her, and even married her. How lucky!

1 Who Struggled In The Relationship Department

To wrap up her not-so-great traits, know that despite all of Carrie’s love stories, she did struggle in that area. There was cheating. There were blowouts. There were breakups. There was a ruined wedding day. There was a torn heart, as she tried to decide which man was really for her.

In the end, it worked out, but her ego, her overthinking, and her emotional and erratic behavior did not always make for smooth sailing in the relationship department.
