Despite being on air for several years before, Schitt’s Creek found a strong fanbase late last year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadian produced show, which airs on PopTV and Netflix, centers on the Rose family, with each member bringing something unique to the table.

Schitt’s Creek became popular for a lot of different reasons, one of those being the iconic characters the show introduced fans to. Arguably one of the most popular fan-favorite characters is David Rose, the eldest son of the Rose family. Over the course of the six seasons, David goes through highs and lows all the while being a hilarious and relatable character for fans to root for.

10 Wine And Roses (Season 1, Episode 6)

David Rose has a hard time adjusting to his new life when his family is forced to move to Schitt’s Creek. He’s away from his friends, sharing a room with his sister, and he hasn’t been able to get a good night’s sleep.

To make matters worse in “Wine and Roses”, David learns that the town has no hospital nearby which only heightens his fears that something is wrong with him. David ends up visiting the local veterinarian who diagnoses David with panic attacks. David thinks this is a joke at first believing that panic attacks are just “things celebrities make up.”

9 Turkey Shoot (Season 1, Episode 7)

David has a lot of great moments in Schitt’s Creek which is fitting since Dan Levy, who plays David, co-created the series. One of David’s earliest shining moments happens in the seventh episode “Turkey Shoot.”

Accustomed to city life, David overreacts when he finds a bug in his motel room. After his manliness is put into question by Stevie, David agrees to go hunting for turkeys with her and some of the other citizens in the town. David shocks them all when he actually shoots a turkey but instead of dying instantly, the turkey slowly bleeds out because of David’s poor shot.

8 The Honeymoon (Season 1, Episode 10)

Part of Schitt’s Creek appeal and comedy came from the odd relationships the Rose children found themselves in. David got the ball rolling early during season one when he and the motel’s receptionist/his only best friend, Stevie, sleep together.

The next morning David and Stevie immediately regret their decision and their friendship turns awkward. Things are made even more awkward when Stevie confesses that she’s confused about David’s sexuality. David then chooses to explain his sexuality saying one of the most iconic quotes of the series,”I like the wine and not the label.”

7 Family Dinner (Season 2, Episode 2)

Sometimes shows take a while to hit their comedic stride but Schitt’s Creek didn’t have that problem. In fact, one of the show’s funniest episodes of all time is “Family Dinner,” which aired during the second season.

After months of eating at the local cafe, the Roses’ are in need of some good, old-fashion home cooking. The only problem is they don’t know how to cook. In an attempt to convince the family that she knows how to cook, Moira enlists the help of David in making enchiladas. What ensues is a hilarious attempt at making enchiladas that has both David and Moira yelling about how to properly “fold the cheese.”

6 The Throuple (Season 3, Episode 2)

While David and Stevie have agreed that they are better off friends than in a romantic relationship, that didn’t stop them from finding themselves in yet another awkward relationship later in the show.

In fact, during season 3, David and Stevie learn that they are both dating the same man. When Jake proposes they become a “throuple” neither David nor Stevie have the guts to tell Jake that this isn’t what they want. Instead, the two attempt to figure out which one should break up with Jake.

5 The Olive Branch (Season 4, Episode 9)

While David has had a lot of unsuccessful relationships in the past, all of that turns around when Patrick moves to town. David and Patrick are complete opposites and yet they manage to balance each other perfectly.

However, even the most perfect relationships experience hiccups here and there. In ‘The Olive Branch,” David and Patrick are on a break which is driving David crazy. In the end, David apologizes to Patrick by serenading him with “The Best” in Rose Apothocary.

4 Love Letters (Season 5, Episode 2)

As David adjusts to his new life he eventually opens up his own store, Rose Apothecary, in town. The shop becomes a core set for the remainder of the season but it’s really the star in this season five episode.

With Patrick off running errands, David is left in charge of the store. While chatting with Stevie, a robber enters the store. Instead of chasing the intruder off, David and Stevie help him make out some of the store’s more expensive items. The best part is that David and Stevie don’t even realize what they’re doing until Patrick asks them what really happened when they refuse to talk to the police.

3 The Hike (Season 5, Episode 13)

Once Patrick enters David’s life, all of David’s best episodes seem to revolve around him. “The Hike” is no exception. In this episode, Patrick asks David to go on a picnic with him but fails to mention they’ll have to hike to get there.

David isn’t thrilled about this but he agrees to trust Patrick. However, things go awry when Patrick injures himself on the hike leaving David in charge of getting them to their destination. In the end, it’s all worth it since Patrick manages to execute one of the best television proposals of all time.

2 The Incident (Season 6, Episode 2)

David might be a mess but he’s usually a well-put-together mess. However, that persona went out the window in this season six episode.

Excited about his upcoming wedding to Patrick, David accidentally wets the bed while spending the night with Patrick. Mortified, David admits what he did to Patrick who is a great sport about it. However, the moment ends up becoming public knowledge when Moira accidentally live streams a conversation she has with Patrick about David’s “bed-wetting” history.

1 Happy Ending (Season 6, Episode 14)

Not only is the finale episode of Schitt’s Creeks one of David’s best episodes, but it’s also one of the best episodes of the series. After all, the episode even won an Emmy Award this past year.

When David wakes up on his wedding day to find it’s pouring, he instantly goes into stress mode. Thankfully, Patrick has arranged a relaxing massage for David so he can be well-rested for the ceremony. Unbeknownst to both men, the massage takes a surprising turn which leaves David in an extra happy mood. In the end, though, the true best David moment of this episode happens when David allows himself to be vulnerable when delivering his vows to Patrick.
