Schitt’s Creek: 10 Times Moira and Johnny Rose Were Couple Goals

Moira and Johnny Rose, for all their (many, many) faults, are a shockingly great couple on Schitt’s Creek. Despite going through the stress and strain of losing everything and ending up stuck in a motel with their kids in the room next door, Moira and Johnny never seem to really get upset with each other. They are utterly devoted to one another, surprisingly patient (especially Johnny, when it comes to dealing with his wife’s eccentricities), and still wildly in love, and it’s amazing to see.

While no one may actually want to be like Moira, with her abrasive personality and total lack of self-awareness, or like the well-intentioned (but largely useless) Johnny, it’s easy to see why anyone would want a relationship just like theirs, and these moments prove it.

10 When He Got A Garden Named After Her

Moira took it hard when a theater that was originally named after her was renamed – even though it was renamed in honor of someone who had passed away! In an attempt to try and make his wife feel better, Johnny convinces the town to name something after her there. Of course, Moira is less than enthused about the idea, not realizing that Johnny has worked hard to make it happen… and in the end, she is left with a grammatically incorrect stone to top it off. Despite all of this, though, anyone can appreciate how hard Johnny worked to try and cheer her up.

9 When They Tried To Go Skinny Dipping

At one point, Moira decides that actually, it might just be time for her to give up acting (to the incredible relief of her husband)… and the two of them go on a nice walk together to celebrate. It’s a wonderfully romantic moment, especially as they start to reminisce about a time that they went skinny dipping together – and decide to do it again! Once again, things  don’t exactly go according to plan, as Moira gets distracted by a phone call and Johnny gets caught, but the romance and the enthusiasm is amazing.

8 When They Broke Into A Cabin

They didn’t intend to break in, mind you! Roland offered Moira and Johnny his cabin to use for a little alone time, and they accidentally went to the wrong one – and then, rather than realize the mistake, they assumed Roland forgot to leave the key under the mat and broke in. As always, it’s a story of mishap after mishap, but before that, we can appreciate the enthusiasm for some time together, and the romance of wine and a trip to the woods… and it’s made very clear that these two still find each other extremely attractive!

7 When She Threw Him A Christmas Party

Christmas is a special time of year – and for Johnny, especially so. In a particularly tear-jerking episode, we get to see some flashbacks to the kinds of Christmasses that the Rose family had in the past, and how sad it made Johnny that they weren’t closer during the holidays.

David and Alexis left as soon as they could, and Moira got bombed… but Johnny still loved that they were together for a little while. And when he told his family how he felt about Christmas, Moira did something amazing, and threw him as big a Christmas party as she could. Taking care of each other’s feelings and making an effort on the important things is something every couple wants.

6 When She Found Her Own Love Letters

Admittedly, this one didn’t start out so sweet, as Moira found a pack of old love letters in the motel room. She assumed the worst, of course; that Johnny was reminiscing over some old flame, and got extremely jealous. However, this story has an adorable ending, as Johnny reminded Moira that she wrote the letters – and the handwriting was different because she was using her other hand. It’s incredibly sweet that when they could only grab a few things from their home on the way out, he reached for the letters she wrote him when they first got together.

5 When He Got Lonely With Her On Set

Johnny is actually just a big softie, and when Moira goes away to work on a film, he’s incredibly lonely – and its adorable to see. He pulls out the love letters mentioned above, he goes a bit nuts trying to distract himself with work at the motel, and he generally shows that he doesn’t totally know what to do without her! And of course, he’s on the phone to her to wish her luck on her first day, supporting her, and trying to keep the kids away from her wigs at the same time.

4 When Johnny Has A Health Scare

Johnny isn’t as young as he used to be, as was proved when he was attempting to help Moira move some stuff around for her production, and ended up having a health scare – which seemed like a heart attack.

For the most part, Moira’s care for her husband is a little bit brusque and can be up and down, but when it was actually important, it became clear just how much Moira loves Johnny, and just how afraid for him she was. Of course, she did make it all about her for a little while, but there’s no mistaking her very real worry when he actually needed it.

3 When They Go To Roland’s Hawaiian Night

Sometimes, it’s nice to just see Johnny and Moira having some fun – not dealing with the madness of their new life, or their children’s antics – and that’s just what happened when Roland and Jocelyn had a party. It was a casual Hawaiian themed backyard party, and had plenty of awkward moments, but these were outweighed by the sweet ones, as Moira and Johnny just went out and had fun. Of course, they had a little… help… with that, but that just made it all the funnier, to see this married couple acting like rebellious teenagers.

2 When He Helped Her Through That Wine Commercial

Moira’s wine commercial is the stuff of Schitt’s Creek legend, as she got drunk and slurred her way through an awful commercial for awful wine. However, Johnny’s involvement should also be the stuff of legend.  Sure, at first he made a nuisance of himself, trying to ‘direct’ and generally getting in the way, but his attempts to help came from a good place. And more importantly, when Moira was breaking down with the fear she couldn’t do it, he was right there to talk her in and make sure that she was taken care of.

1 When They Are Always, Always, There For Each Other

At the end of the day, Johnny and Moira are always there for each other. When Johnny wanted to start working on the motel with Stevie, Moira supported him. Through a period where both were debating running for the council, they supported each other. When Moira wanted to quit acting, Johnny was thrilled… and when she decided to go back to it again, he supported her anyway. When she broke down in a closet, he took care of her. When he pulled his back, she took care of him. No matter what, these two have an unshakeable marriage, and that’s what everyone wants.
