Schitt’s Creek: 5 Couples Who Are Perfect Together (& 5 That Make No Sense)

Schitt’s Creek has grown from a small Canadian sitcom into one of the most beloved comedies on television. The series follows the Roses, a rich and affluent family who lose everything and are forced to move to the small rural town of Schitt’s Creek.

What starts as a typical fish-out-of-water comedy evolves into a show about becoming better people as the Roses are introduced to new friends, new life paths and even new romances while in their new unfortunately-named home. Some of these romances have stolen our hearts, while others just didn’t click. Here are some couples on Schitt’s Creek that were perfect and some that made no sense.

10 Perfect: Ted And Heather

Ted Mullens is one of the more likable characters on the show as he is just an all-around nice guy. As the veterinarian in Schitt’s Creek, Ted is an animal lover who also does his best to please people. So when Alexis broke his heart, all we wanted was for him to find someone he could be happy with.

Ted seemed to find that companion in Heather. She was the friendly goat farmer who began a relationship with Ted after he broke up with Alexis. Even though there proved to be a more perfect match for Ted, these two made a charming pair.

9 Makes No Sense: Mutt And Tennessee

Mutt is a character that never really seemed to fit well in the show. He was introduced as the rugged, outdoorsy son on Schitt’s Creek mayor, Roland Schitt. But Mutt sort of always just floated around as a sort of love interest for Alexis.

However, during their time apart, Mutt began a relationship with a free-spirited girl named Tennessee. We never really spend much time with this couple as they seem like a bit of an after-thought in the show. It’s as if they tried to introduce a new love triangle before realizing they weren’t interested in that.

8 Perfect: Roland And Jocelyn

Roland and Jocelyn Schitt are the power couple in town with Roland serving as mayor and Jocelyn being involved with most of the town’s creative clubs. They become the closest friends the Roses have in town, whether the Roses like it or not, and despite their sometimes-obnoxious behavior, they have a lovely marriage together.

To others, Roland can be a handful and Jocelyn can sometimes seem like a push-over. But when these two are together, they complement each other perfectly. They know all the tricks to make their marriage work, even if it’s often unorthodox.

7 Makes No Sense: David, Stevie, And Jake

Technically, this romantic situation is not a couple, in fact, the show dubs it a “throuple”. When David meets a handsome local named Jake, it seems too good to be true. As it turns out, it is since Jake is also dating Stevie, David’s best friend.

Though they know it’s a weird situation, David and Stevie pretend they’re cool with it and give the “throuple” thing a try. It turns out as poorly as you’d expect. Once things start to get too complicated, Jake suggests they all just date each other together. That proves to be the last straw for this romantic team.

6 Perfect: Alexis And Ted

Alexis is very open about her love life and it seems clear that she has not always had the best taste in men. However, she finally decided to date a nice guy for once after meeting Ted. While the two certainly shared a connection, it just wasn’t the right time for her, and they broke up.

As Ted picked up the pieces and moved on, Alexis gradually came to realize that she is truly in love with him. Thankfully, he eventually realized the same and they reunited. They might be two very different people, but Alexis has grown a lot as a person and Ted is a big reason for that.

5 Makes No Sense: Stevie And Jake

Though the “throuple” predictably didn’t work out, some pieces of it managed to live on. After Stevie and David decide that the shared romance is too messy, they move on from Jake. But while David found a much healthier relationship, Stevie decided to keep having some fun with Jake on the down-low.

She keeps it hidden from David for obvious reasons, and when she is eventually found out, she is appropriately ashamed of herself. Of course, that doesn’t put an end to it. Stevie knows how wrong it is, but she seems to think it’s the right kind of wrong.

4 Perfect: David And Patrick

David is introduced in the show as a spoiled and self-involved man-child, and while he still isn’t perfect, he has certainly become a better person throughout the series. A lot of that has to do with his relationship with Patrick.

Patrick is a sweet and caring person which is not something that David is used to. He helps teach David that it’s alright to fall in love. In return, David helps Patrick discover his true self in a relationship with another man. They are an adorable couple that truly do deserve each other.

3 Makes No Sense: Alexis And Mutt

For the first season, Alexis was caught in a love triangle with Ted and Mutt. Though she found a kind and caring partner with Ted, her relationship with Mutt was more passionate. However, the show made the mistake of thinking Mutt was the person we wanted Alexis to choose.

Mutt was meant to be the dangerous and attractive choice, but he was just sort of a dull character. Seeing Alexis with him didn’t allow her character to grow at all. The show seemed to realize that pretty quickly and gradually began to replace Mutt with Ted as her true love.

2 Perfect: Johnny And Moira

Sitcom marriages can often be depicted as disasters for the sake of laughs. However, in Schitt’s Creek, the marriage between Johnny and Moira is one filled with genuine and ordinary love. That’s not to say the characters are ordinary as Johnny is a stubborn and oblivious man while Moira is overly dramatic in all aspects of her life. Yet they make each other very happy.

These two continue to encounter issues, but they always overcome it by being respectful of each other. It’s likely no one else could handle them, but together they are perfect.

1 Makes No Sense: David And Stevie

One of the first and most important relationships David makes in Schitt’s Creek is with Stevie, the grumpy sole employee of the town’s motel where the Roses live. They form a strong bond and become very important people in each other’s life. Inevitably, this turns romantic which is a miscalculation on their part.

Though their connection is very real, they were not meant to be lovers, they were meant to be best friends. It’s a relief when their romance is short-lived and they can just be amazing friends for each other.
