Schitt’s Creek: 5 Times Stevie & David Were Friendship Goals (& 5 Alexis & Twyla Were)

There are multiple reasons why Schitt’s Creek is one of the most beloved shows on TV today. The characters grow on people, the experiences of a small-town setting, the way in which all the characters get to know and become an integral part of each other’s lives, are all quite heartwarming. 

One element that stands out is the friendships that are formed on the show. Despite David being eccentric and an introvert, he is able to find a friend who complements his personality. Alexis, who is outgoing, adventurous, and has an eventful past, manages to find a friend in Twyla who is grounded and quirky. 

10 Stevie & David: “I Think You Are My Best Friend”

In the eighth episode of the fourth season titled “The Jazzaguy”, Stevie treats David to a spa resort trip to get his mind off the weird situation David and Patrick’s state are in. At night, when they are lying down, wearing face masks is when David opens up. He says that in the past, “the more he revealed of himself to someone the less interested people got”.

But Stevie reassures him by saying that he had surrounded himself with the wrong kind of people and Patrick was not that kind of person, and says she’s still with him even though she knows everything there is to know about him. That’s when David realizes that Stevie is his best friend. 

9 Alexis & Twyla: The Time When Twyla Made Alexis Count Her Blessings

In season 5 episode 13 called “The Hike”, Twyla does a tarot reading for Alexis and Ted, predicting a drowning. However, when Alexis comes back later to check if there was a mistake in the reading, Twyla reassures her that “death aside, her further readings were really good”.

She saw her family, with all members having something to celebrate in their lives. She further reassures her that it is going to be a good year and that she is on the right path. 

8 Stevie & David: David Is There To Comfort Her When Stevie’s Great-Aunt Died

In the episode titled “New Car”, in season 3, episode 3, Stevie’s great-aunt dies and she is in charge of all the arrangements. David very reluctantly offers to help after changing into his “funeral blacks”. He accompanies her to collect her great-aunt’s ashes, choosing the urn, and even scattering her ashes in a depressing parking lot.

Stevie also has a crisis about how much of her life resembles her aunt’s, and how this will be her future as well. David talks her through it and rationally explains how she is very different from her aunt, and choosing to have him as a friend is one major difference. 

7 Alexis & Twyla: The Time When Twyla Helps Execute A Romantic Dinner For Alexis And Ted

In “The Job interview” in season 6, a chauffeur knocks on Alexis’s door and asks her to come with him claiming that Mr. Mullens has arranged a limo for her. She gets ready and is dropped off at Cafe Tropical. There she sees Twyla waiting for her, and tells her that the entire cafe has been reserved for two, Alexis and Ted.

Since Ted was in Galapagos for his research project, they felt that they weren’t getting enough time together. So Ted reached out to Twyla to arrange for a romantic date night which was executed perfectly and went a long way in strengthening Ted and Alexis’ relationship. 

6 Stevie & David: The Time When They Drove To The House Patrick Bought

In the episode “Start Spreading the News”, in season 6, Stevie lets it slip to David that Patrick has bought a new house for them to move into. Surprised and dazed by the news, David and Stevie drive to that small house to just look at it. Stevie says that despite knowing him for so many years, she doesn’t know what goes through his head.

She goes on to convince David to stay back in Schitt’s creek because she would miss him. This is one of the most heartwarming moments in the show where both Stevie and David have a heart-to-heart conversation, sitting in the car and crying. 

5 Alexis & Twyla: When Twyla Gave Her Honest Opinion

In season 5 episode 12, titled “The Roast”, Alexis finds out that Ted has been given an opportunity to go to the Galapagos for his dream job and he turns down the offer just to be with Alexis. Alexis thinks it’s a huge sacrifice and feels special until she talks to Twyla.

Twyla, being the wise person she is, puts things into perspective by saying that relationships are based on sacrifices. That’s when Alexis realizes that she needs to accept that they have lives and ambitions outside of the relationship and she needs to let him go. 

4 Stevie & David: When Stevie Made David Accept Reality

Stevie helps David get in touch and acknowledge his feelings for Patrick. In the episode “Grad School”, the finale of season 3, the Rose family as a whole forgets David’s birthday. Patrick suggests that David and he go out for a birthday dinner. 

David, who is not used to this kind of attention, invites Stevie also without informing Patrick. Stevie sees the “nicely wrapped” birthday present and says out aloud what David was dreading, that Patrick might be having feelings for David. She says that “if there is anything remotely sentimental in the bag, he (Patrick) thinks you are on a date right now”. 

3 Alexis & Twyla: The Time When Alexis Encourages Twyla To Spend On Herself

In season 6, episode 13 called “Start spreading the news”, Alexis comes to meet Twyla in her cafe to give Twyla her clothes, as she is moving to New York. This is when Alexis realizes that Twyla doesn’t do this job for the money and that she is quite rich because she has won a lottery. Twyla says that she continues to work at Cafe Tropical because it makes her smile.

2 Stevie & David: When Stevie Jeopardises Her Big Day To Get David’s Gift

In “Life is a Cabaret”, the finale of season 5, David tells Stevie that he is now engaged to Patrick on the day of the show “Cabaret”, where Stevie is the lead actress. Hours before the show opens, Stevie goes missing and nobody is able to reach her. Moira thinks she took off because of weak nerves and even gets ready to play her part.

However, Stevie returns to the set with a few minutes to spare. David later finds out that Patrick had gotten her blessing for the proposal and that she had gone to collect the customized monogrammed towels she had ordered. Even on her most important day, she wanted only the best for David.  

1 Alexis & Twyla: The Time When Twyla Encouraged Alexis To Take Risks

In the season 4 episode, titled “Girls’ Night”, Alexis and Twyla decide to go out to meet other people. Moira Rose also decides to tag along by being their designated driver. On the way to the bar, Moira gives them rather weird advice on how to meet new men. Since it worked well for Moira, Twyla also decides to go and experiment with the method of running her finger through people’s backs. 

She comes back and tells Alexis that she has a ride home for the night and that she was glad that she took that risk. She also points her to a man who has been eyeing Alexis for quite some time and encourages her to take risks as well. It is at this point that Alexis actually realizes that she is still in love with Ted.
