Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? is set to drop new episodes this week and has released a new trailer teasing the cavalcade of guest stars coming to the animated series. The iconic children’s franchise about a talking dog and his gang of mystery-solving friends was created for Hanna-Barbera in 1969 and has been running more or less continuously since then, in many different iterations. In addition to the animated series, including What’s New, Scooby-Doo? and A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, Scooby and the gang has appeared in comic books, video games, tabletop games, animated and live-action films, and even stage plays.

One of the latest Scooby outings is Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? which premiered in 2019. The animated series stars Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo and Fred, Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Grey Griffin as Daphne, and Kate Micucci as Velma. The show is designed to feature a special guest star in every episode, either a real-life celebrity or a famous fictional character from the DC or Hanna-Barbera universes. The Scooby-Doo franchise has brought on many famous names throughout the years, including stars as widely varied as The Three Stooges, KISS, Mr. T, and Debby Ryan, but Guess Who has made these cameos into its bread and butter and has featured such stars as Steve Buscemi, competitive eater Joey Chestnut, Mark Hamill, and Gigi Hadid.

New episodes of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? will be dropping on HBO Max in just two days, on Friday, October 1. In anticipation, a brand new trailer for the series has dropped. In just 30 seconds, it teases a cornucopia of fun and exciting appearances, including Hanna-Barbera’s own Blue Falcon and Dynomutt, in addition to a host of new celebrity cameos. Check out the trailer below:

Some of the cameos coming up make perfect sense, like pop music icon Cher, who has already appeared on Scooby-Doo alongside Sonny Bono back in 1972. Other makes a little less sense, like NFL sports analyst Terry Bradshaw. However, the deep bench of cameos is part of the fun of the show. The rest of the celebrity crew that are turning 2-D this time around are Lucy Liu (Kill Bill, Vol. 1), Billy Dee Williams (Star Wars’ Lando Calrissian), Run-D.M.C.’s Reverend Run, Jessica Biel (The Sinner), and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).

That’s a typically wide range of people featured, so it will be interesting to see how their different personalities will impact the flavor of each episode. They have made a habit of mixing it up, throwing in very unexpected and interesting stars alongside the more obvious promotional choices (this time around, that would be Sudeikis, because Ted Lasso is a widely adored show that won several Emmys this month). Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? has always had a unique approach to bringing in guest stars (on top of everything else, Guess Who? has featured an Urkel cameo in the past), and it’s a delight to see them continuing their streak.
