New Scream fan art sees Ghostface parody Megan Fox’s iconic scene in Jennifer’s BodyScream is a meta-horror slasher franchise that first premiered on December 20th, 1996. The first film, directed by Wes Craven, follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), a high school student in the fictional town of Woodsboro, California, who becomes the target of a masked killer who comes to be known as Ghostface (Roger L. Jackson). Scream set a new standard in the field of horror films by employing satirical elements to poke fun at the horror genre as a whole. Its self-awareness and witty commentary on horror films helped it spurn a 5-film franchise with a sixth movie on the way.

Meanwhile, Jennifer’s Body is another horror movie that also set itself apart in the horror genre, this time through its unique comeback. Jennifer’s Body premiered on September 18, 2009, and follows Jennifer (Fox) a high school student who becomes possessed by a demon and begins to kill her male classmates. Upon its release, Jennifer’s Body received a relatively negative critical reception. However, the film has recently received new appreciation for its feminist flair and themes of vengeance.

Now, artist zascanauta on Instagram has created a mashup of the two horror films with a Ghostface parody of Fox’s most iconic scene in Jennifer’s Body. The art sees Ghostface recreating the scene in Jennifer’s Body in which Fox burns her tongue to further discover her inhuman abilities. Check out the fan art below:

This isn’t the first time Fox’s iconic Jennifer’s Body scene has been recreated. It was surprisingly recreated by the popular doll brand Bratz, as well as by Fox look-alikes on social media. However, this time it was particularly amusing to have another iconic horror character recreate the scene. The recreation shows how Jennifer’s Body has made a resurgence in today’s society as a cult classic. While Jennifer’s Body originally flopped, it has gained traction and it isn’t unusual to see it incorporated into artwork and social media today. The Scream and Jennifer’s Body fan art mashes up to two very different films that have both reached classic horror status.

The fan art also adds a bit more character and expression to Ghostface than is typically seen. Since the Scream killers always don the same Ghostface mask and black garb, it is quite difficult to see or imagine a different perspective of the killer. That is why fan art comes in handy to put a spin on popular horror villains that tend to remain the same throughout decades. The Ghostface fan art creates an interesting mashup of Scream and Jennifer’s Body and is a fun reimagining of the iconic Ghostface villain.
