Scream Returns to Theaters for One Night Only 25th Anniversary Screening

After 25 years since its release in 1996, horror fans will get the chance to revisit Wes Craven’s original Scream on the big screen this October. After carving a name for itself as one of the first self-reflective horror movies of its era, the franchise has become a Halloween staple for nearly three decades since its initial release. Garnering three additional sequels, the Scream series remains one of the highest grossing American horror franchises to date, with the original film remaining the most successful out of the four. Starring Drew Barrymore, Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Rose McGowan, Skeet Ulrich, and Matthew Lillard, Scream starts the series’ meta narrative with a killer who terrorizes a town while referencing horror movies as a part of their murdering rampage.

As reported by Bloody Disgusting, Scream will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a theatrical re-release for one night only on October 10th of this year. Hosted by Fathom Events, audiences can sign up to be notified when tickets go on sale for a chance to see the groundbreaking slasher that started it all in a theater near them. Additional details regarding the event, like where exactly the movie will show, have yet to be announced.
