Many pirates are taking to the seas in Sea of Thieves to participate in the massive Disney crossover, the free A Pirate’s Life Season 3 DLC. In Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life, pirate crews can take on five new story quests, called Tall Tales, and fight alongside Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean Disney Park ride and film series. Much of the content in A Pirate’s Life takes place in new areas, including the Tunnel of the Damned, Dead Man’s Grotto, and the town of Sailor’s Grave. To reach all the new content, players will need to find and accept the Tall Tale’s quest and travel outside the regular Sea of Thieves areas to private servers.

Starting Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life requires players to interact with a new NPC, the Castaway, at her camp. She can be found at almost any Outpost. Crews will then need to accept the first of five Tall Tale storybooks. The first book will guide them to find the Tunnel of the Damned. They should know they have reached the right place when the scene changes and they enter ghost-infested waters. Here’s how to start Sea of Thieves: A Pirate’s Life.

How to Access A Pirate’s Life in Sea of Thieves

When players first launch Sea of Thieves following the A Pirate’s Life update, they should see a tab on the main menu labeled for the new content. This tab does not provide immediate access to the DLC, however. Instead, it will drop a pirate or crew at any random Outpost. Crews will need to scour the Outpost to find a new location, called Castaway’s Camp. Here, they will find The Castaway, a new NPC who bears some similarities to Tia Dalma, one of the characters in Pirates of the Caribbean who is later revealed to be the sea goddess Calypso.

After speaking to The Castaway and learning of a prisoner kept below the Ferryman in the Sea of the Damned, players can find the five books containing each quest in the Tall Tale behind her. Only one of these will be unlocked, and it usually the first one on the left. If players are traveling with a crew, the majority of the group will need to vote on the quest to activate it.

Once the quest has been accepted, the crew should see a rock formation with a bright green light overhead. This is the gateway to the Tunnel of the Damned and Sea of the Damned. Crews will need to sail through the gateway to begin the Tall Tale. It is important to note they cannot take any loot with them into the Tall Tale and will need to sell it all before they enter.

Passing through the gateway will transfer players from the main PvP servers in Sea of Thieves into the servers especially for A Pirate’s Life. This should prevent the crew from getting attacked by other pirates during the story. Players will know they have reached the right place when the screen fades to black and they enter foggy waters heralded by a ghost parrot. They should continue forging ahead, experiencing all the visual cues, until they reach the second green tunnel that will take them into Strange Shores, the first quest, during which they will finally meet the legendary Captain Jack Sparrow.

Sea of Thieves is available for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
