Snowball the bunny gets his superhero game on in the latest trailer and poster for The Secret Life of Pets 2. Illumination has so far marketed the film – itself, the sequel to the animation studio’s 2016 hit The Secret Life of Pets – with a series of trailers, each of which spotlights a different character. The first teaser focused on the original movie’s protagonist, Max the Jack Russell Terrier (now voiced by Patton Oswalt), and was shortly followed by a second teaser, which shone the spotlight on Chloe the tabby cat (Lake Bell).

Of course, if there was a scene-stealer in the first Secret Life of Pets, it was probably Snowball (Kevin Hart), a white rabbit who had become somewhat unhinged since he parted ways with his original owner. Fortunately, Snowball ended up with a new – and far more caring – owner by the end of the film, and all seemed well. That is, as well as things ever are for Snowball, as the new Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer reminds us.

You can watch the latest Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer in the space below, followed by the Snowball poster. As you might expect, Hart’s animated counterpart is still as eccentric as ever and prone to fits of fancy. In this particular instance, Snowball has convinced himself that he truly is (what else?) a costumed superhero, super-powers and all.

Hart is coming off a debacle in which he agreed to host the 2019 Oscars ceremony, only to step down just a few days later when old homophobic tweets resurfaced from his Twitter account and Hart declined to issue an official apology (though he ended up apologizing on his social media accounts anyway). One imagines he will be more than happy to have everyone focusing on his upcoming franchise movies like The Secret Life of Pets 2, rather than continuing to focus on his would-be stint as the Academy Awards’ host. The Secret Life of Pets sequel is still nearly seven months away, so it’s probably safe to assume Hart’s controversy won’t have much of an impact on the film commercially… assuming he stays out of trouble in the meantime, that is.

As for The Secret Life of Pets 2: the sequel should deliver more of what audiences loved about the first movie, if the trailers are any indicator. The film may further benefit from its increased star power, now that Harrison Ford and Tiffany Haddish have added their names to the already star-studded Secret Life of Pets voice cast (which further includes Jenny Slate, Hannibal Buress, Albert Brooks, and so forth). Indeed, if the sequel comes anywhere near to matching the first movie’s $876 global box office gross, the odds are good we’ll be talking about The Secret Life of Pets 3 by this time next year.
