The Pokémon Collection chairs by Secretlab have officially been announced, with the #025 Pikachu model and #006 Charizard model set to launch first in Japan, with an international release happening at a later date. Screen Rant had the chance to use the Charizard model ahead of the line’s launch, and the Pokémon Collection chairs are extremely comfortable and supportive, even when gaming, streaming or working for long periods of time, and they are the perfect choice for fans of the Pokémon franchise.

Secretlab chairs already have a reputation for being high-quality premium products, which are worthy investments to those who spend extended periods of time in front of a screen, either through working at a computer all day or playing games. The Pokémon Collection consists of new versions of the Secretlab Titan EVO 2022 chairs, upholstered in Secretlab NEO Hybrid Leatherette and bearing the image of two of the most famous Pokémon in the history of the franchise.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Pokémon Collection chair arrived in a massive case, filled with parts held in styrofoam casing, smaller cases holding individual parts, and a massive instruction sheet that doubles as a poster. The process of assembling the chair was easy and all tools required are provided in the box, though some parts can be heavy and require lifting, so it’s advised to have a second person on-hand if possible. It should take roughly half an hour to assemble the chair, depending on the number of hands involved. The most complicated actions in assembling the chair are screwing parts in and lifting heavier elements, as several parts of the chair are assembled using magnets.

The magnetic parts of the chair are the side covers that protect the backseat brackets and the two hand rests. There is also an optional head pillow that connects to the backrest using a magnet, which can easily be moved to better suit the player’s comfort. The backrest recline lever and lumbar adjustment knobs are useful for those who suffer from back pain and find it hard to stay in one position for extended periods of time, and the Secretlab Pokémon Collection chair is incredibly sturdy and feels secure, even when shuffling in the seat while playing a game.

The magnetic armrests have buttons and levers that make it easy to adjust their position. With a single press, they can be moved forward, to the side, or change their elevation. The only aspect that requires a little extra work is the distance between the armrests, as the screws at the bottom of the chair need loosening to accomplish this. There are also two levels at the bottom of the chair that can adjust the height and lock the tilting motion of the seat, both of which can be used while seated. The chair also has an NFC chip installed in the lower part of the backrest, which can be scanned to verify its authenticity, as well as bringing up aftercare information and a link to the assembly video.

So, what separates the Pokémon Collection chair from the other ones made by Secretlab, such as the Cyberpunk 2077 chair from 2020? It’s the same high-quality chair as before, but with Pokémon branding. Both of the chairs have two regular Poké Balls embroidered on the top left of the backrest, and their individual Pokédex number (#006 or #025) is on the top right. The chairs have the Secretlab branding on the top, and two stripes at the top of the backrest, with Charizard’s being blue and orange, and Pikachu’s being yellow. The edge of the backrest and seat are embossed with images of Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard. The other members of the Pikachu line weren’t so lucky for the Pikachu chair, as Pichu and Raichu are nowhere to be seen on that model.

The back of each chair has the Secretlab branding, as well as an energy-type symbol based on the respective Pokémon. The entire chair also has a thin line of embroidery on its edges, with Charizard’s orange and Pikachu’s yellow adding a splash of color to the dark tone of the overall chair. The main aesthetics of the Charizard chair include a picture on the front that is based on Ken Sugimori’s iconic artwork of the beast, while the back has a massive image of Charizard flying. These images are embroidered onto the chair and look gorgeous, with different layers of shading to enhance the artwork and give it a feel that is similar to that seen on many of the Pokémon trading cards.

The Pokémon Collection chairs have the same high level of quality as the rest of the Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 line, with several customization options available to make the seating experience as comfortable as possible. The chairs look gorgeous, though the artwork will mostly be appreciated by the Pokémon fans of the world. There’s a reason why Charizard and Pikachu are two of the most recognizable Pokémon in the history of the franchise, and they are the perfect mascots to appear on the latest Secretlab chairs.
