While certain plural families featured on Seeking Sister Wife are positive representations of polygamy, many cast members on the show have been involved in surprising scandals. Over the course of three seasons, the polygamist reality series has showcased a few controversial families that have turned out to be more trouble than any viewer might’ve expected. From covered-up crimes to claims of domestic abuse against the Snowdens, these are the biggest scandals to come out of Seeking Sister Wife.

Unlike most reality show fanbases, the audience of Seeking Sister Wife is required to have a very high threshold for melodrama. The unconventional nature of the polygamist series is also its appeal, which means that many viewers are watching plural families because of the drama that is sure to come to the surface within these dynamics. For many polygamist families on Seeking Sister Wife, conflict is constantly brewing.

Throughout the reality series’ run, however, revelations about cast members have surpassed even the wildest expectations from fans. Even though some scandals are as simple as a family dynamic gone wrong, other mistakes made by the Seeking Sister Wife cast members have turned out to be way more complex. So, it’s time to break down the show’s most dramatic events ever.

3. April Briney Leaves The Show

When Drew Briney starred on Seeking Sister Wife season 1 with his first wife April, they were featured alongside his two more recent wives, Auralee and Angela. Drew and April had been married for 20 years before they started living a polygamist lifestyle and had eight children together. During season 1, April struggled to get along with Auralee and Angela. Drew’s recent wives didn’t understand or trust April throughout their time on the show. Thus, April made a shocking decision to leave Drew, Auralee, and Angela while the family was filming Seeking Sister Wife season 2. April’s abrupt exit left her former spouses astonished and it also prompted the family’s retirement from reality TV. April’s emotionally turbulent break from the family was tonally aloof from what Seeking Sister Wife producers had in mind, so there was no return for Drew and his wives in season 2.

2. The Jones Family’s Mysterious Past

Fans met Sidian and his wife Tosha Jones on Seeking Sister Wife season 3. At first, Sidian and Tosha appeared to be a typical polygamist couple searching for another partner. However, once Seeking Sister Wife fans found out more truths about the Jones family’s past, they appeared to be much more conniving. Internet sleuths discovered that Tosha had been allegedly charged with felony theft in 2016 for committing an unknown crime. Fortunately for Tosha, her charge was reduced to a misdemeanor, so she was ultimately sentenced to unsupervised probation. Surprisingly, Tosha’s crime isn’t the only murky facet of the Jones’ past. Although Sidian explained that he and Tosha had a sister wife prior to  Seeking Sister Wife, the ex-wife discredited their story. Sidian’s ex claimed that she never embraced Tosha as a sister wife and said that Sidian had cheated on her.

1. Allegations Against Dimitri & Ashley Snowden

The most dramatic situation of all Seeking Sister Wife scandals is the accusations of domestic abuse that were made against Dimitri and Ashley Snowden. Dimitri and Ashley are OG cast members, and even though they didn’t have luck finding a second wife, they were well-received by fans. Alas, the reception of the Snowdens changed drastically after the demise of their marriage with Christeline Petersen. Dimitri married Christeline at the end of season 3, but they got divorced shortly after the wedding aired. Christeline accused both Dimitri and Ashley of domestic abuse throughout their relationship. Christeline garnered support from many fellow Seeking Sister Wife stars, some of which even called for the show to end. This is easily the most dramatic scandal on Seeking Sister Wife, as it threatened the entire existence of the show.
