Many of the funniest moments on Seinfeld are a direct result of Cosmo Kramer. The wacky neighbor of Jerry was a comedic force of nature on the show and provided exciting off-the-wall energy to whatever scene he was involved in. But as funny as Kramer was, like the other characters in the series, he was also a pretty terrible person.

Kramer might act like he is a more caring and considerate person than those around him, but his disconnected view of the world means that he rarely considers how his actions impact others. In the end, he is constantly a bad neighbor, a bad boyfriend, and a bad friend.

10 Bankrupting Tourists

If someone is looking for some fun, Kramer is the man to show it to them. Whether they survive the ordeal is another story. When Kramer meets a group of Japanese tourists, he decides to give them a first-class tour of New York City.

Unfortunately, Kramer is unclear on the currency conversion and he assumes their modest budget makes them millionaires. He soon spends all their money and they are forced to stay with him, sleeping in his chest of drawers.

9 Insulting George’s Girlfriend

Kramer has a tendency to tell things as he sees them. He sees this as a charming and honest way to live his life. But he seems oblivious to the fact that sometimes his words can be extremely hurtful.

When George brings his new girlfriend around, Kramer comments that she is beautiful but that she needs a nose job. Putting aside how shallow of a thing that is to suggest, it is unnecessarily mean. Yet Kramer insists he is being helpful by telling her the truth. When she gets the nose job and it is botched, again, he doesn’t hesitate to tell her so.

8 Burning Down The Cabin

It’s difficult to calculate the amount of damage Kramer has caused over the years yet he never seems to show any remorse at all. When the rest of the gang takes a trip to the cabin owned by Susan Ross’ father, Kramer decides to invite himself along.

He ends up getting there before the rest of the gang and makes himself at home, even smoking some Cuban cigars. Obviously, he ends up burning the cabin down and is more concerned about losing his cigars than the cabin.

7 Letting Darren Take The Fall

Despite not having any career to speak of, Kramer acts like he is filled with ambition as he concocts a bunch of crazy get-rich-quick schemes. Eventually, he hires an intern named Darren to help him achieve some of his dreams.

Darren is enthusiastic about the work and helps Kramer develop some of his ideas. But when one of the schemes goes terribly wrong, Darren is the one who is arrested and Kramer acts like it was his idea all along.

6 Stealing A Dog

It’s possible that Kramer sees himself as a good friend as he usually tries to help his pals any way he can. But that help usually has terrible results. When Elaine is bothered by a dog in her neighborhood that keeps barking, Kramer decides to step in.

He and Newman kidnap the dog and decide to take it out into the country. Not only is that extremely cruel to the dog owners, but there is no telling what would happen to that poor dog out alone miles from home.

5 Fighting Children

Though he may not have much going on in his life, Kramer occupies his time with plenty of extracurricular activities. One of those outlets is a karate class, which seems to teach him a lot of discipline and skills.

As it turns out, much of the confidence Kramer is getting from the class is due to the fact that he is fighting young children. He even brags about dominating over these opponents who are barely half his size.

4 His Lawsuits

One wonders how Kramer is able to survive without having any job or income. The answer could be found in his many, many lawsuits seen throughout the show. Despite acting like he is a laid-back kind of guy, Kramer likes to sue at the drop of a hat.

What is most off-putting about this trend is that all the things Kramer is suing for are all caused by his own stupidity and negligence. After he spills coffee on himself while sneaking it into the movie theater, he sues the coffee company. When he smokes excessively to the point of “becoming ugly,” he sues the tobacco company. It’s another example of him not taking any responsibility for his actions.

3 Stealing Other People’s Partners

Somehow, Kramer always seems to find a beautiful girlfriend, even though he is a very off-putting person. But when pursuing a new romantic interest, he doesn’t seem to have any trouble taking someone else’s partner.

After telling George’s girlfriend that she needs a nose job, he begins dating her after she breaks up with George. He falls for one of Jerry’s girlfriends and tries to steal her away. He even seduces Susan Ross’ girlfriend.

2 Freeloading

It must have been a nightmare for Jerry to live next door to Kramer. Not only would this mad man barge into his apartment without notice, but he was constantly taking Jerry’s food and borrowing his stuff without asking.

Jerry was basically paying for all of Kramer’s food without getting anything in return. Kramer would even complain when Jerry would have food he didn’t like.

1 Taking Down The Plane

In the finale of the show, Jerry and George are given another chance to have their sitcom picked up by NBC. As a gesture from the network, they offer to fly the whole gang on vacation in a private plane.

Very shortly into their flight, Kramer attempts to get some water out of his ear and starts jumping around on the small plane which causes it to lose control. They land safely in a small town where the group is quickly arrested for being bad people and sentenced to prison time. All because Kramer had water in his ear.
