While Selling Sunset‘s Chrishell Stause and Simu Liu from Marvel’s Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings had chemistry during his time on season 4, Chrishell confirms that the pair are strictly platonic. As one of the breakout stars of Selling Sunset, Chrishell has become known for not just her ability to sell multi-million dollar houses to LA’s elite, but her string of relationships. Previously engaged to actor Matthew Morrison way back in 2006, Chrishell and Justin Hartley, another actor, married in 2017. Since her divorce from Justin in early 2021, Chrishell has been involved with several entertainment figures. With much of her life displayed on television, her relationship with Simu has excited fans from its origin.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to Chrishell, Twitter is the sole reason for Simu’s collaboration with the Oppenheim Group. The 40-year-old previously explained that while browsing the social media site one day, she came across a tweet that Simu wrote about the show in 2020. “What no I’m not binge-watching Season 3 of Selling Sunset, why would you think that at all[?].” Excited that the MCU star was a fan of the show, the two came across each other on Twitter the year after. After giving Chrishell dating advice, the 32-year-old casually tweeted, “While I got you… I might be in the market to buy……” and the rest was history. While Chrishell’s ex-boyfriend Jason Oppenheim—who runs the business with twin brother Brett—was not as enthused by Simu’s appearance, fans were quick to notice their chemistry once they met in person.

Months after Netflix released Selling Sunset season 4, Chrishell has set the record straight on her relationship with Simu since filming on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen alongside RHONJ’s Margaret Josephs. Asked by a viewer whether the two stars have “romantically connected” since Simu’s guest appearance—especially since Chrishell is now single—Chrishell gave a quick but polite response that may leave some fans dissatisfied. “I get this question a lot! I have to say that Simu is just a friend of mine,” the real estate broker confirmed. Doubling down when Andy interjected with the question, “Friends with benefits?” Chrishell continued, “No one ever believes me, but no.”

Although Simu is “lovely” and “so, so amazing,” the star remained tight-lipped about any specifics regarding their friendship; Chrishell doesn’t believe that Simu is “public with his whole situation,” meaning his dating life. While Andy’s facial expressions remained relatively neutral, the Godfather of Bravo did have one more shady question for Chrishell: does she watch NBC’s This Is Us? Indirectly bringing up ex-husband Justin, who plays Kevin Pearson, Chrishell took the question in stride, answering, “Not anymore.”

The success of Selling Sunset gave way to Netflix releasing the first season of spin-off Selling Tampa last month, which follows the Allure Realty firm run by Sharelle Rosado in Florida. Confirming a season 5 for the Oppenheim Group last March, Netflix’s original hit series is currently under production. After the positive fan response to Simu Liu’s visit to the LA real estate firm, viewers are excited to see which celebrities are next to be featured.
