Selling Sunset: Why Chrishell & Jason’s Relationship Was Short-Lived

Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim broke up after just five months of dating because they have different goals for the future. Chrishell first met Jason when she started working at his brokerage, The Oppenheim Group, in 2018. At the time, the TV actress was married to This Is Us star Justin Hartley. Chrishell was heartbroken and shocked to find out her now ex-husband filed for divorce without letting her know. While Justin has always maintained that Chrishell knew about their separation, she claims she felt blindsided by him.

In May 2021, Justin married his third wife, Sofia Pernas. Chrishell is also trying to move on and have the family she always wanted. After briefly dating professional dancer Keo Motsepe, she fell in love with Jason. In July 2021, Chrishell confirmed the two were dating with a series of images. The Selling Sunset duo actually looked very much in love in their sweet pictures. However, the couple broke up in December 2021. Jason and Chrishell shared statements on their social media, which reveal why their relationship was short-lived.

Chrishell has always expressed that she wants to experience motherhood. When she was married to Justin, she was keen to have a child, but it never came to be (though she was step-mom to Justin’s daughter from a previous relationship). After the couple got divorced, Chrishell decided to freeze her eggs before getting back into the dating game. In September 2020, she said, “I definitely had a different idea for where I would be at this age and stage in my life. There’s a family aspect that I’m missing that I hope is still a possibility for me.” Being a mother is Chrishell’s biggest dream, but Jason isn’t as eager as her to start a family.

After having several heart-to-heart conversations with Jason, Chrishell understood that he doesn’t imagine himself becoming a father in the near future. Instead of dragging her relationship, hoping he would change his mind, she decided to make the tough decision. In Chrishell’s words, “Men have the luxury of time that women don’t and that’s just the way it goes.” The Selling Sunset celeb dreams of being with a partner who wants to grow a family with her. If she continued to date Jason, she would move further away from her goals. Even though Chrishell has frozen her eggs, she hopes to have a baby sooner than later.

Chrishell and Jason’s lovely social media pictures suggest they cared for each other and were in love. However, they have different wants regarding a family. They understood a happy future together wasn’t a guarantee and called off their romantic relationship. Still, it is nice to see they will continue to be coworkers and close friends after the public breakup. Selling Sunset viewers hope Chrishell and Jason will find their soul mates in the new year.
