Despite all of the unbelievable drama on Selling Sunset season 4, the most controversial thing about the season is the use of a new camera filter. While Chrishell Stause, Mary Fitzgerald and the rest of the group are either selling houses or out partying, all fans could see was the orange soft glow effect on them.

Selling Sunset follows the outlandish luxury real estate agents at The Oppenheim Group. It is about all of the women’s relationships with one another as much as it is about selling houses, and there is always drama. Season 4 finds the group handling Davina Potratz’s exit from the O Group, dealing with a pregnant Christine Quinn, and Chrishell pretending she was not already dating boss Jason Oppenheim. While fans were trying to focus on the fact that Christine and newcomer agent Emma Hernan dated the same guy at the same time, all they could see was the overpowering filter on their screen.

While fans all know Selling Sunset for its outrageous mansions, and the drama to match, they have a new reputation thanks to some bold camera filters. Season 4 will likely be dubbed the overexposed season, and not just because of the daring outfit choices. Many fans noticed within the first few minutes of Selling Sunset that something was off and everyone looked washed out. Some viewers liked the bright and blurred aesthetic of the season, though others said it quickly grew old.

It was so distracting for some fans that they could not even tell the difference between Christine Quinn’s hair and the white walls in a house she was trying to sell. Reddit user r/spoonfulofshooga commented that “sometimes their face literally looked orange,” while others were concerned their TV was actually broken. Some fans that were in favor of the new addition to Selling Sunset season 4, saying it fits the theme of bright and sunny LA.

Viewers drew the comparison to the now-iconic filter used during the premiere season of RuPaul’s Drag Race that made the edges so soft it was difficult to tell each of the queens apart. Oddly enough, fans claimed the obvious orange filter that came up on their TVs did not show up at all on phones and laptops. Though Selling Sunset season 4 just premiered, fans are already excited for a fifth season of luxury and drama, this time maybe without the filters.
