Netflix has begun preproduction on a film adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo. Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel has been on the Times’ Bestseller Paperback list for over a year now thanks to it becoming a viral sensation on the literary side of TikTok. The novel centers on a mysterious Hollywood star who has chosen a small-time reporter to recount her life story.

Deadline has reported that Netflix will begin to develop a feature film adaptation of The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo with Little Fires Everywhere’sLiz Tigelaar at the helm. The book was originally meant to be adapted as a series for Freeform with Reid as a writer, but that project never came to be and the novel’s rights made their way over to Netflix. The movie is set to be produced by Liza Chasin of 3Dot Productions and Brad Mendelsohn of Circle of Confusion.

The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo is not the only Reid project that Tigelaar is working on. She is also adapting another one of Reid’s bestsellers, Malibu Rising, for Hulu. Tigelaar has a great track record with her projects, receiving award nominations for both Little Fires Everywhere and Casual. There is no word on when the filming for The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo will begin and no release date has been announced. But still, fans of the novel can get excited knowing their favorite book will be a feature film sooner rather than later.
