Sex Education: 8 Potential Storylines Rahim Could Have In Season 4

When Rahim (Sami Outalbali) was first introduced to Sex Education, many students of Moordale were awestruck by him. The way he was given a memorable entrance had many fans intrigued since it seemed to suggest that he would end up having a major role. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Unlike some of Sex Education’s best characters, Rahim has not had much time to grow or develop, which makes it very hard for fans to get attached to him.

While he did get a little more screen time in season 3, it still wasn’t enough for viewers since it did not answer the questions fans had about him or reveal anything about his life. With Sex Education renewed for season 4, this would be a great opportunity for the writers to give him a well-rounded arc that will allow fans to see him as more than a supporting character.

8 Rahim’s Home Life

When it comes to Rahim’s family, not much is known about them. Apart from learning that he and his family had to leave their country because of its religious beliefs and that he is a French exchange student, the series has yet to delve into his personal life.

Fans would love to see what he is like outside of Moordale and learn just a bit more about his background. Since he is supposedly set to leave Moordale at the end of the school year (as this is his second year at sixth form), it would be nice for his parents to make an appearance and let fans see what kind of relationship he has with them.

7 Rahim’s Bond With Adam Grows

In season 3, one of the most surprising things that no Sex Education fan saw coming was the unlikely friendship between Adam Groff (Connor Swindells) and Rahim. Considering that Adam was the reason why Rahim and Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa) broke up in season 2, viewers expected there to be much friction between the characters. However, this did not happen as both Adam and Rahim put their grudge aside to help each other with several favors.

While there is a possibility that this friendship could blossom into another romance, many fans wouldn’t mind if the two decided to remain friends either since Rahim doesn’t have many at Moordale. With Adam wanting to do better in school, it would be rather fascinating to see if Rahim decides to tutor him or if he learns something as well by hanging out with Adam.

6 Rahim Should Be Included In The Main Group

Other than his romance with Eric and a brief scene where he was speaking to the girls about Hope Haddon’s (Jemima Kirke) new school rules, Rahim has not interacted much with the main set of characters. Instead, he seems to prefer his own company as he is often seen standing alone in the background of shots.

While some Sex Education fans wanted to see less of him in season 3, they didn’t exactly mean for him to disappear from the show altogether. Since Rahim did get along with Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield) when he was dating Eric, and was acquainted with Lily Iglehart (Tanya Reynolds), Ola Nyman (Patricia Allison), and Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), the viewers would love to see these pairings more in season 4.

5 Could He Join The Quiz Heads?

Rahim is certainly one of the most intelligent characters on Sex Education. Based on the two seasons that he has appeared in, fans have discovered that he is an avid bibliophile, with many of his lines often including one or two literary references. Similar to Maeve, he is also a talented writer and very knowledgeable too.

With rumors that Emma Mackey might have left the show, her absence would mean that there is an open slot on the Quiz Heads. Could Rahim end up taking her place? It’s possible – especially since it would be an easy way to get Rahim more involved with some of the other characters.

4 Rahim Should Get Closure With Eric

Considering that Rahim had been a huge part of Eric’s story in season 2, it would please fans to see them be friends or find some common ground in season 4. While the breakup was still fresh for Rahim in season 3, especially since he learned that Adam and Eric were now dating, it looks like he is slowly getting over this heartbreak and ready to move on.

Since Rahim has struck up a bond with Adam, he may also decide that he wants to try and salvage the relationship he has with Eric. It would be rather endearing if Rahim and Adam discussed what went wrong in their relationship and put everything behind them. It would also bring closure to this storyline too.

3 Rahim Could Help With The “Save Moordale” Campaign

After it was revealed in season 3 that the Moordale sixth formers will have to find another school to finish their education (since the board was closing it down), many fans believe that season 4 will involve a “Save Our School” storyline. This is something that Rahim could be heavily involved in since he has shown extreme loyalty and love for the students of Moordale, while also refusing to be pushed around by bullies.

Along with Jackson Marchetti (Kedar Williams-Stirling) and Cal Bowman (Dua Saleh), Rahim was one of the first people to stand up to Hope and question her discriminatory behavior, (which eventually led to the Open Day rebellion). With Moordale in danger, he would certainly not hesitate to defend his classmates once again and could end up being one of the people to help organize a campaign.

2 Could Rahim Finally Find His Place At Moordale?

Out of all the characters on Sex Education, Rahim is the only one who seems to have not have found his footing at Moordale. With him often seen on his own and not involved in any other extracurricular activities, it seems as if Rahim might be lost or hasn’t found something that has interested him enough.

Since Rahim had asked Eric in season 2 for ideas of what he can or can’t do in Moordale (and their quaint town), the writers should revisit this and create a club that has intrigued him. With many of the characters considering each other a family, it would be nice to see him feel welcome and accepted.

1 What Are Rahim’s Hopes & Dreams For The Future?

Since the main characters of the show are meant to be leaving school at the end of this academic year, the writers have yet to explore what some of them want to do next. While Otis had a brief talk with his mother about possibly becoming a therapist and Aimee Gibbs (Aimee Lou Woods) continuing her passion for baking, fans have yet to discover what Rahim wants to do.

Rahim might want to go to university or college after he finishes his studies at Moordale, or he could decide that he might want to go traveling. Since he loves to write, it would be great to see him make a career out of this or be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get more experience.
