Netflix’s steamy romance series Sex/Life has officially been renewed for a season 2. After a few pandemic-related delays, Netflix unveiled the eight-episode season 1, created by Stacy Rukeyser, back in June. The story, loosely based on the BB Easton memoir 44 Chapters About 4 Men centers around Billie (Sarah Shahi). Billie is a married mother of two whose suburban life gets turned upside down when her ex-lover, Brad Simon (Adam Demos), returns to the picture.

According to Digital Spy, Netflix officially announced that Sex/Life would be getting a season 2. Despite mixed reviews, the show remained a staple in the Top 10 shows on Netflix weeks after its intital release. The streaming service also announced that Shahi, Demos, Mike Vogel, and Margaret Odette would be returning to the next season.

Sex/Life season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, with Billie faced with the decision of whether or not she wanted to keep her life as is with her husband Cooper, or pursue a future with Brad. It’s unclear how the cards will pan out for Billie’s future, but her decision is sure to be central to the narrative of season 2.

Sex/Life is another mainstream show, like Netflix’s Bridgerton, that’s bringing streamy romances and sensual fantasies to the forefront – and it’s clearly popular with fans. While some criticize the series as being “softcore porn,” it hasn’t stopped subscribers from binging all eight episodes to see what the hype is about. What’s more, the renewal from Netflix goes to show that even if a series like Sex/Life isn’t a critical masterpiece, it can still be both light-hearted and addictive, and keep viewers interested while waiting for other Netflix series, such as Stranger Things or You, to release new episodes.
