The Sexy Beasts season 1 cast members Tyler the Alien and Kariselle the Panda connected on the series, and fans want to know if they stayed together beyond the wild dating show. Meeting while wearing elaborate prosthetics and makeup sparked their romance, and their bond only grew when they were unmasked. When the filming of the Netflix series wrapped, Tyler and Kariselle’s had to confront a different kind of beast, which was building a relationship outside of the reality television bubble.

Onscreen, Kariselle chose Tyler over Ethan the Tin Man and Josh the Bull, after going on dates with each of the masked bachelors. During their second-round date, which they spent axe throwing, Kariselle and Tyler talked about what they were looking for from their partners. They both found what they were looking for in each other. Both wanted someone with a sense of humor and a fun personality. Once Tyler and Kariselle met without the disguises, they shared a kiss. All seemed rosy for the couple’s potential future together.

Forming a romantic relationship tends to take longer than the small window of time the series offered. For Tyler and Kariselle, it seems as though their connection didn’t last long after the show wrapped. Kariselle explained what happened between them in a heartfelt Instagram post soon after Sexy Beasts dropped on Netflix. “We tried our best, and really gave it what we could given the circumstances, but we live across the country and the pandemic didn’t help,” she wrote in the caption. Although they aren’t dating, Kariselle said that she and Tyler talk frequently and have great admiration for each other.

Since Sexy Beasts was filmed in late 2020. it’s unclear how long the two lasted together. A cryptic Instagram post that Tyler shared in late January of 2021 led fans to think that they may have broken up at the beginning of the new year and that the parting may not have been as mutual as Kariselle had claimed. The post consisted of a photograph of a building sign (which might have been from the set of Sexy Beasts) with the words, “CAUTION: do not enter when [red light] is on.” The picture was captioned with the hashtag #iykyk, which is an abbreviation for “if you know, you know.” Tyler may have been indicating through the post that there were red flags in the relationship before he could talk about it openly, as the show had not yet premiered.

It’s true that Sexy Beasts tried something drastically different by using elaborate animal disguises but it seems to have ended up with largely the same outcome as other dating shows. While Kariselle and Tyler may have gotten to know each other while throwing axes, their relationship ended up being axed. Starting a relationship in front of the camera tends to boost the odds of a future breakup, no matter what a couple looks like.
