Emmy Rossum’s Fiona Gallagher is an important part of Showtime’s adapted comedy-drama Shameless. Some would even say that she is the heart and soul of the show, alongside William. H. Macy’s Frank Gallagher, of course.

Over the years, Shameless has seen the success of one season after another but the tenth season dipped in quality and it’s no surprise that Fiona wasn’t in it. She makes the show so much better to watch because of the small things and complexities related to her character.

But as beloved as Fiona is, fans still have questions about her that need to be answered.

10 With Whom Does She Share The Best Relationship In The Show?

There are a lot of people Fiona has met throughout her journey in Shameless but she is at her best alongside Veronica and there’s no one who would even try to dispute that. Veronica is Fiona’s best friend and it has to be said that the only reason Fiona managed to stay out of trouble for such a long time was thanks to her. Both of them share insane chemistry and it’s not really a surprise that they understand each other, even when they are not speaking.

9 How’s She With Frank Gallagher?

In the end, every Gallagher kid hates Frank, but everyone shares a different kind of relationship with him. Fiona hates him purely because he left his kids to fend for themselves, which meant Fiona had to step, being the biggest sibling in the house. Towards the end of season nine, though, it felt like Frank knew Fiona better than she knew herself. It really came out as a surprise, to be honest.

8 How’s Her Romantic Life?

It’s not good. Fiona’s romantic life is all that is wrong with her because her choice in men is absolutely ridiculous. The only decent relationship she has formed is with Jimmy and even he constantly lied to her.

Gus was another one but in the end, Fiona didn’t want to commit. Sean and Ford were the worst because they kept hold of the biggest lies and revealed it at the worst possible time. Fiona should just stop dating men, to be honest.

7 How Is She As A Person?

Fiona is a very good woman, who knows what’s right and what’s not. She can do anything to protect her family but when it comes to decision-making skills, she is the absolute worst. She has the tendency to make the wrong choice at the worst possible time and it doesn’t really help anyone. Also, she has anger issues and if things aren’t going well, everyone in the family will know it because of her loud voice.

6 Does She Have An Addiction To Drugs Or Is She An Alcoholic?

No, Fiona is not an alcoholic or an addict but the problem is; growing up in the south side of Chicago, it’s really difficult to resist the temptation and Fiona succumbed to it. First, she did drugs, thanks to Robbie (another one of Fiona’s bad choices in men), but she got back on her feet. Towards the end of the ninth Shameless season, she drank a bit too much but again, she got back on her feet. Fiona is a really strong woman.

5 What’s Her Biggest “Fall From Grace” Moment?

While Fiona has suffered many setbacks in her romantic relationships, her biggest “down to Earth” moment came when she played out of her hand in property investment. She didn’t have the money required and still pledged whatever she had. In the end, she ended up selling her apartment and being back at The Gallagher house. Still, though, she got something out of it as she was bought out of the investment.

4 Why Do Lip And Ian Disrespect Her So Much?

This is a question that can have loads of answers but the primary reason why Ian and Lip Gallagher disrespect Fiona is because she tries to get in between their lives a bit too much.

When they were kids, it was okay but Fiona kept taking decisions for Ian and Lip, even when they grew up. Although she came into Lip and Ian’s lives a few times, that’s not a good enough reason for them to disrespect her, after all, both of them owe their lives to her.

3 What’s The Worst Thing She Has Done?

There are many bad things Fiona has done to herself, thanks to her pretty bad relationship history, but the worst thing that has happened to someone else because of her is Liam. Her drug problems came to the Gallagher house as a small Liam ate the small packet of drugs and he could have died of an overdose. Fiona shouldn’t have ever been so careless with drugs.

2 What’s The Best Thing She Has Done?

There aren’t many good things that have happened in Fiona’s life, much like any Gallagher but the best thing she has done in the series is selflessly sacrificing her life to raise her siblings. And she did a really great job, considering the resources and the fact that she was alone, with a drunk father. When she was supposed to enjoy her life and not care about things much, Fiona was busy raising kids and she never complained.

1 Why Did She Leave?

When she received the money that was held up in the property investment, Fiona thought that it was time for her to rebuild her life. But not in the south side of Chicago. It was the last place for her to use her second chance. So, after talking to Ian about it, she decided to leave The Gallagher house, even though she didn’t tell anyone where she was going. To be honest, Fiona deserved to get out of there, after all, she has done a lot of good things for the people that matter to her.
