Marvel’s She-Hulk series can reveal Hulk’s missing Thor: Ragnarok story in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As evident by its title, the upcoming Disney+ series follows Jennifer Walters a.k.a. She-Hulk, played by Tatiana Maslany. She-Hulk will understandably spend much of its time highlighting her story, but Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) is also set to play a key role. This could include revealing some of his missing MCU adventures.

From the time Mark Ruffalo took over the role of Hulk in the MCU, he has been a secondary character among the original Avengers. Hulk still played pivotal roles in all four Avengers movies and Thor: Ragnarok, but he was never the focus. That might still be true with She-Hulk, but the episodic nature could give the series time to explore more of Bruce Banner’s MCU backstory. There are various rumors about how this could happen, including flashbacks to Bruce as a child. However, She-Hulk can also tell Hulk’s missing Thor: Ragnarok story about his time on Sakaar.

In terms of the MCU timeline, Hulk was off Earth for three years between Avengers: Age of Ultron and Avengers: Infinity War. He spent most of this time on Sakaar, where he became the Grandmaster’s newest Champion. However, since time works differently on Sakaar, Hulk theoretically spent much more time there before the events of Thor: Ragnarok. All of this time is unaccounted for in Hulk’s MCU story, and rumors suggest She-Hulk could change that with the introduction of Hulk’s son, Skaar. If this is the case, then She-Hulk will confirm that Bruce Banner did much more than just fighting on Sakaar and could even show some of Hulk’s life during this time.

It would be quite smart of Marvel Studios to use She-Hulk to flesh out Hulk’s story in this fashion and show or explain what happened to him on Sakaar. Thor: Ragnarok only alluded to his time in the ring, but it was quite clear he was incredibly popular on the planet. The idea that this led to a romantic relationship that produced a son is quite believable. The character of Skaar comes from the comics and was revealed in the fallout of World War Hulk. Skaar was Hulk’s secret offspring from his relationship with Caiera the Oldstrong during Planet Hulk. While Skaar originally hated his father for abandoning them and the death that came to Sakaar afterward, he and Bruce reconciled their differences, leading to Hulk training his son.

Using Skaar in She-Hulk won’t just help fill in Hulk’s missing Thor: Ragnarok story, but it can also help set up some of the MCU’s future. Skaar has ties to the Dark Avengers in the comics, but his introduction would also make sense ahead of a World War Hulk adaptation. Marvel Studios is rumored to be developing a World War Hulk movie for Mark Ruffalo’s MCU hero, and it would only be natural if Skaar was part of it in some fashion. Whether that be through flashbacks or Hulk returning to Sakaar to see what happened after he left, either option could work for Skaar’s MCU future following a She-Hulk debut.
