Showtime’s Let the Right One In Show Casts AHS Star Grace Gummer

Showtime’s upcoming Let the Right One In series has cast American Horror Story‘s Grace Gummer in a lead role. Adapted from the 2004 novel, Let the Right One In follows a father and his 12-year-old daughter who, after being transformed into a vampire a decade earlier, is forced to live a closed-off life of solitude to avoid killing other humans. This will mark the third time the bestselling Swedish novel has been adapted, the first being the 2004 Swedish film and second being the American remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz. After years in development, the TV series has found a home at Showtime, which ordered a pilot with Demián Bichir to star. Now, one of the most prolific TV actors of the last 10 years is set to join the vampire horror series.

Variety reports that Grace Gummer, who broke out as Penny in American Horror Story: Freak Show, has officially joined the cast of the Let the Right One In pilot. Gummer will play Claire, the heir of a pharmaceutical empire who turned down the family business to pursue an independent career in disease research. Joining Gummer and Bechir is Anika Noni Rose, a single mother and next-door neighbor of the 12-year-old vampire and her father. Andrew Hinderaker, who created the short-lived Netflix series Away starring Hilary Swank, will serve as Let the Right One In‘s showrunner.

In addition to American Horror Story, Gummer had regular roles as FBI Agent Dom DiPierro on USA’s acclaimed hacker thriller, Mr. Robot, and as Jules Gelineau in CBS’s sci-fi series, Extant. She most recently appeared in an episode of the FX miniseries, A Teacher, which became FX on Hulu’s most-watched original series by the time it concluded last December. With a role that will likely see her billed among the show’s top two actors, Gummer looks poised to make a big career leap if Let the Right One In is picked up for a series order.
