Each world in The Sims 4 contains a wide array of different properties that players can invest in and build on. These range from tiny apartments to sprawling mansions, and just like in the real world, different properties come with different price tags. How much, though, do these properties cost when examined using real-world currency instead of Simoleons? A recent study has aimed to answer that exact question, and now Sims 4 fans can find out how much some of the most expensive housing properties in the series cost when translated into real money.

There are well over a dozen worlds to choose between when starting a new Sims 4 game, and each one adds a handful of different properties to the game. The most recent world, Henford-on-Bagley, was introduced with the July release of the Sims 4 Cottage Living expansion pack. That said, in order for players to have access to every world and property in The Sims 4, they’ll need to own many of the game’s expansions, which in and of itself can be a costly venture to undertake.

The study to help determine the cost of many Sims 4 properties was run by Ebuyer, which also studied games like Final Fantasy XIV and Animal Crossing: New Horizons in order to convert various different types of in-game currency to real money. In order to first determine the exchange rate from Simoleons to a comparative GBP price, the cost of food in The Sims 4 was examined. From there, conversions to other forms of currency like the U.S. dollar were made. While these calculations may not be entirely accurate, given the natural fluctuation of prices as well as the range of values researchers were presented with, it at least makes it possible to get a general range of real-world prices when examining Sims 4 houses and lots.

How Much Sims 4 Houses Cost In Real Life

According to the study, which in particular focused on properties found in the Sims 4 worlds of Willow Creek and Oasis Springs, Ophelia Villa is one of the most expensive properties in the game. This house is a gothic manor that, fittingly enough, serves as a residence for the Goth family in the base game. It includes three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and three floors. Although its lot size is fairly small at only 30×20, it costs a total of 254,721 Simoleons, which equates to approximately $253,446.91 in real-world money. Also located in Willow Creek is the Pancakes residence at Pique Hearth, located in the neighborhood of Courtyard Lane. With two bedrooms and bathrooms and sitting on a 30×20 lot just like the Goth’s residence, its cost comes out to 113,498 Simoleons, or $112,930.30. It’s interesting to see what the relative price range is for both of these iconic Sims franchise characters.

Many of the houses in the world of Oasis Springs cost significantly less. Vista Quarry is an uninhabited lot located in the neighborhood of Parched Prospect, and its default house is a one-story, two-bedroom building. It costs 48,718 Simoleons, which equates to $48,484.52. It’s an overall better deal for players looking to start a family without spending too much, falling somewhere into the middle range comparatively. Also uninhabited and located in the same neighborhood is Raffia Quinta, a two-bedroom and two-bathroom house that includes an outdoor patio area, which is relatively unique in the world of Sims 4 homes. At just 39,122 Simoleons, in real-world currency it costs $38,937.01.

Overall, The Sims 4 contains properties for just about every type of player, allowing them to buy large lots of empty land for ambitious builders or lavishly decorated manors for those who just want to focus on gameplay. Whether Sims fans are looking to invest in a small apartment or something more extravagant, it can be interesting to figure out what the real estate cost of these buildings would be in the real world.
