Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown Is Bothered By Truely Often Ignoring Him

Truely Brown has ignored her dad, Kody Brown, several times on Sister Wives, and he constantly appears bothered by her reaction to him. Truely is one of six kids between Kody and third wife, Christine Brown. Many fans have noticed that Kody seems closer to some of his kids than others, and with Christine officially leaving Kody on Sister Wives, fans are wondering how her kids will act towards their dad after the split.

Christine and Kody’s relationship hit a breaking point after he ended their intimate relationship, constantly favored fourth wife, Robyn Brown, and would not consider moving back to Utah for her on Sister Wives season 16. Christine seems to be thriving on her own, with her own cooking web show on TLC, and fans love seeing her connect with her kids without Kody’s influence. While Kody is known for playing favorites with his wives, Kody also seems to play favorites with his children. As he often splits his time between families, many of the Brown children are closer to their moms than Kody.

Kody has 18 children with his four wives, and he is not close with all of them. Some of his older children, like Paedon, Gabriel, and Garrison Brown, revealed that they hardly ever speak to their father. He has also burned bridges with daughter, Ysabel Brown, especially after he refused to fly out with her during her spinal surgery in Sister Wives season 16. His spunky young daughter, Truely Brown, does not seem very attached to Kody on Sister Wives and fans love seeing Kody’s baffled expression after every polite rejection of hers.

Truely, 11, has won fans over with her respectful, yet hilarious rejection of her dad on multiple Sister Wives episodes. When Christine and Kody were having a conversation with Truely, she answered her mom’s questions, but not her dad’s. He also tried to give her a high-five and she looked down rather than at him, saying “No thank you, dad.” Sister Wives fans recalled that this is usually her response to anything Kody has to say or offer her. It seems to hurt Kody’s pride to not be in control of his daughter’s feelings and he may feel embarrassed that she is actively ignoring him on camera.

Many Sister Wives fans have guessed that Kody does not spend a lot of time with Truely from past episodes, and Reddit user r/TheFireWithin_21 said, “He was upset that Truely told the principal all about her moms and siblings but left any mention of him out.” Another fan agreed, and r/jennrh4 added, “Seems like he’s trying to play daddy cause the cameras are rolling…she’s reacting to him like he is a stranger.” Kody may be playing up his sadness at getting ignored by Truely for Sister Wives viewers. Fans will know more about the kids’ bond with their dad since Christine left him on Sister Wives season 17.
