Sister Wives: Why Kody Brown’s Jealousy Is Really, Really Weird

Those who watch TLC’s Sister Wives can’t help but find Kody Brown’s extreme jealousy strange and almost irritating. Kody has been accused of many things throughout his time on reality TV including abandoning his family, gaslighting, and picking favorites when it comes to his four wives. The father of 18 has often found himself in the hot seat, with viewers calling him out more than once for his bad behavior.

Perhaps the worse offenses have come when Kody acted out of jealousy. Whether his actions were due to feeling guilty or just plain narcissism, Sister Wives viewers don’t feel Kody has a leg to stand on. He has been the decision-maker for years, with audiences not understanding what he has to be jealous about. Viewers think it’s odd that Kody often finds himself fighting the green-eyed monster, especially since he is the one with multiple wives. They question if the patriarch even has the right to be jealous or if he should snap out of the feeling.

Most couples who live a monogamous lifestyle probably have come up against the feeling of jealousy once or twice throughout their relationships. When viewers first met Kody, Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn, they were a happy blended family who touched on the fact that jealousy is constantly worked on within their home. Yet, Kody has been acting really weird when it comes to his extreme feelings of envy lately. Viewers saw Kody lash out on the current season after Christine picked Janelle over him. But does Kody really have the right to be jealous? Most who watch Sister Wives don’t think so.

Kody does not seem upset that his wives have often expressed being jealous when it comes to thinking of him sleeping with another spouse. Yet, Kody feels he has the right to be argumentative when he isn’t put first. More than once, Kody has shown with his own actions that he doesn’t actually care about his wives’ feelings, with the exception of Robyn. It makes sense that Meri, Janelle, and Christine don’t have a lot of sympathy for him for this reason. It is odd Kody feels he has a right to be jealous, especially when it comes to Christine’s relationship with Janelle. Frankly, Kody has never been very interested in Christine and her happiness, so why would he feel envious now?

Kody’s jealousy doesn’t add up to Sister Wives viewers who feel he is overacting and being hypocritical. The fact the father of 18 has constantly ignored his wives’ concerns for years has left audiences feeling unsympathetic toward him. Kody’s weird jealous behavior has not sat well with viewers, who hope he gets it under control before the new season gets underway.
