Ahead of its release, Bethesda has revealed that the upcoming The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will let anglers customize their Hearthfire manors with aquariums. The second remastered re-release is set to launch on Skyrim‘s 10th anniversary November 11th and will be coming to last-gen and current-gen consoles, as well as PC. A free current-gen upgrade will be made available for those who already own the title. Aside from visual and framerate improvements, new features and additions will be also be added, including 500 creation club elements and a new fishing mechanic ten years after its initial release.

Every new version of Skyrim has managed to build upon the RPG in terms of mechanics and additional content, expanding its longevity and replayability with upgrades for returning players. Skyrim: Anniversary Edition’s new fishing mechanic is a prominent feature being advertised for this new iteration of the game. Fishing has technically been a feature in previous versions of Skyrim, since players could grab fish out of the water with their bare hands. Multiple unofficial mods have given PC players the proper angler experience, but the mechanic has never been implemented thoroughly. That’s set to change with the Anniversary Edition.

As revealed on the official Twitter account, Bethesda has teased that next month players will be able to add fish tanks to their Skyrim homes in the Hearthfire DLC. Additionally, fish caught by players will also be available to be mounted on walls. The item mounting mechanic was introduced in the original Skyrim and allowed weapons to be showcased on walls via plaques. This feature was later expanded in the Hearthfire DLC, giving players the option to mount trophies and animal heads. No price has been revealed, but both the current-gen Skyrim: Anniversary Edition and the last-gen Skyrim: Special Edition will be able to interact with this feature.

Aside from the Anniversary Edition update, Bethesda might have even more surprises coming up in celebration of Skyrim‘s 10th anniversary. A recent trademark by Zenimax has revealed that a whole new wave of Skyrim household products could be coming very soon. If accepted and released, fans can expect new merchandise to cover their homes with, such as wall hangings, flags, blankets, pillow covers, and other household products to show love for the popular fantasy action RPG.

Aquariums seem like a natural inclusion following the announcement of the fishing mechanic for the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition update. While fishing mods have existed for some time, the expansion of fish features through wall mountings and interactive aquariums is still an engaging touch, and will help set the Anniversary Edition from the many, many iterations of the classic open world RPG that have come before.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will release on November 11, 2021 for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
