The Daedric Artifacts are among the most extraordinary-looking weapons and armor the Dragonborn can obtain in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. While not all artifacts are fit for endgame content, their rarity and exclusive designs are something every Elder Scrolls fan can appreciate. Collecting every Daedric Artifact can provide a striking “touch of Oblivion” to character home decor and can award players the “Oblivion Walker” achievement. To accomplish this feat, the Dragonborn must obtain every Daedric Artifact in Skyrim.

Although there are a total of 16 Daedric Artifacts in Skyrim, players only need to collect 15 of them to achieve Oblivion Walker. From the start of the game, players should be able to complete most of the required quests whenever they choose. However, they should keep in mind that some may have a necessary level prerequisite or quest completion requirement. Additionally, players should note that finding Skyrim’s Skeleton Key does not count toward the achievement. Once players have completed all the prerequisite questlines and had the artifacts in their inventory at least once, Skyrim will recognize them as the Oblivion Walker, a true specialist in Daedric trinkets.

The first Daedric Artifact in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that players should attempt to find is Azura’s Star or The Black Star. Both are infinitely useful for capturing Grand Souls of creatures and NPCs. To obtain one of them, players should head to the Shrine of Azura, located south of Winterhold, and speak to Aranea Ienith to start the quest, “The Black Star.” During the questline, it is recommended to give the Broken Azura’s Star to Nelacar in the Frozen Hearth Inn in Winterhold. As a result, players will eventually be rewarded with the Black Star. The next artifact players will likely discover is the Dawnbreaker. To get this unique sword in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, players must complete the “The Break of Dawn” quest, which will begin whenever they pick up Meridia’s Beacon from a random chest.

Quests for Obtaining Each Daedric Artifact in Skyrim

The remaining Daedric Artifacts in Skyrim can be collected in almost any order. The Ebony Blade is obtained in Whiterun by completing “The Whispering Door.” To start the quest, players should listen to a rumor about the Jarl’s children from The Bannered Mare. “The Whispering Door” will only become available once the Dragonborn reaches level 20 and completes the main story quest, “Dragon Rising.” Next, once players reach Level 30, they can find the book Boethiah’s Proving in various locations or on the corpse of a Boethiah follower. Reading the book will begin “Boethiah’s Calling,” the quest to collect the Ebony Mail.

One of the most well-known Daedric Artifact weapons in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the Mace of Molag Bal. To get it, players should travel to an abandoned house in Markarth and accept the quest, “The House of Horrors.” To obtain the Masque of Clavicus Vile, to start the artifact’s quest, “A Daedra’s Best Friend,” they must speak to Barbas, a talking dog found along the road outside Falkreath. Players must spare Barbas at the end of the questline, or they won’t receive the artifact.

The next artifact is Mehrunes’ Razor, which can only be obtained once players have reached Level 20 and received an invitation letter to Silus’ Mythic Dawn Museum in Dawnstar. The letter will initiate the quest “Pieces of the Past.” The quest for Oghma Infinium, “Discerning the Transmundane,” can be started at any level in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. However, the second part of the questline can only be begun after Level 15. Players must speak to Septimus Signus at his outpost in an ice cave north of Winterhold.

Players will need to listen to rumors about Markarth’s Hall of the Dead from Kleppr at the Silver-Blood Inn. Once players complete the questline, “The Taste of Death,” they can receive the Ring of Namira and become full-fledged cannibals. Next, they will encounter an NPC named Sam Guevenne in a random tavern at Level 14. If they engage in a drinking contest with him, the quest “A Night to Remember” will activate, for which the player will receive the magic Sanguine Rose staff.

To begin another Daedric Artifact quest in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, players can go to the graveyard in Falkreath to hear rumors of a vicious murder. They must complete the quest, “Ill Met by Moonlight,” to receive the Savior’s Hide or the Ring of Hircine. The Skeleton Key is one of the more useful artifacts, as it is essentially a lockpick that cannot break. To obtain it, players must complete “Blindsighted,” which is a quest during the main questline of the Thieves Guild.

The Skull of Corruption is awarded to players who complete “Waking Nightmare,” which is started by speaking to Erandur in the Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar. Players must slay Erandur at the end of the quest to receive the staff. The next quest, “The Only Cure,” is begun by encountering one of the Afflicted at Level 10 or speaking to Kesh at the Shrine to Peryite northeast of Markarth at Level 15. Players will receive Spellbreaker, a unique shield in Skyrim, at the end of this quest.

Players can receive Volendrung by assisting the orcs of Largashbur, an Orcish stronghold in the south of The Rift region. They will give the Dragonborn the quest “The Cursed Tribe.” Finally, one of the most beloved of the Daedric Artifacts is the Wabbajack staff, which can be received by completing “The Mind of Madness,” a quest begun by speaking to Dervenin, an unstable homeless man found in Solitude.
