Ali Nassar Abulaban, a TikTok user known as JinnKid popularized for his “Skyrim in Real Life” video series, was charged with double murder after allegedly killing his wife and her friend. The Skyrim IRL star has amassed almost one million TikTok followers, with some of the posts on the JinnKid account including The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim-themed videos.

Ali Nassar Abulaban’s claim to fame is Skyrim IRL, comedic videos poking fun at the open-world fantasy RPG. The videos are filmed from a first-person perspective like in Bethesda’s RPGs, and Abulaban impersonates Skyrim’s various NPCs. The videos mock the game’s notorious glitches and other strange in-game occurrences normally encountered during a Skyrim playthrough, such as NPCs glitching into walls or speaking voice lines that don’t fit given scenarios. JinnKid’s first series of Skyrim IRL videos garnered nearly 3.5 million views on YouTube, and his TikTok videos have over 12.1 million likes.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to Kotaku, the creator and star of Skyrim IRL, Ali Nassar Abulaban, was charged with double homicide after he allegedly killed his wife and her friend last week. Police called to an apartment in New York City’s East Village found the bodies of Ana Abulaban and Rayburn Barron. It was believed that Ali Abulaban and his wife were in the process of a divorce and that Ana Abulaban and Rayburn Barron were having an affair. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim NPC impersonator has been accused of stalking Ana Abulaban since October 18, having allegedly installed an app on his daughter’s iPad that let him monitor activity in the apartment.

Police say the Skyrim IRL TikToker “heard his wife with another man” before he entered the East Village apartment and committed the alleged double homicide. He reportedly shot Barron three times and his wife once. He then is said to have left the apartment, which was caught on video footage from a neighbor’s apartment, before picking up their five-year-old daughter from school. He was subsequently taken into custody. The double murder follows a domestic violence incident last month in which Abulaban reportedly pushed his wife, causing injury. Their young daughter apparently witnessed the incident, but no restraining order was issued. Ali Abulaban is being held without bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing on January 5, 2022.

Alubaban had moved on from Skyrim IRL by the time of the homicides, having posted impressions and other comedy skits in recent weeks. JinnKid’s last Skyrim IRL video was posted to TikTok on September 15, in which he referenced Skyrim’s Thalmor Embassy.
