Bethesda teamed up with Rebel Distillers and Jim and Tonic to bring Skyrim’s Skooma drug to life in an official absinthe bottle. Elder Scrolls fans have been transported to Tamriel once again with the Skyrim: Anniversary Edition, which celebrates the RPG’s 10-year anniversary with 74 Creation Club items, current-gen upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and all original DLCs including Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. And though there is no new information regarding The Elder Scrolls 6, Skyrim’s player base continues to expand, with the community still dedicated to exploring the frozen continent and all its secrets.

An iconic item from The Elder Scrolls franchise is Skooma, an illegal narcotic used throughout Tamriel. The drug has been seen in three of Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls games including Morrowind and Oblivion and was most recently seen in Skyrim. Made and perfected by the Dunmer, Skooma is a mixture of moon sugar and Nightshade, providing its user with enhanced strength and speed while restoring stamina. Skooma is outlawed in Skyrim but is often smuggled to the province by Khajiit – Skyrim‘s fur traders from Elsweyr. The drug is outlawed because it can be dangerous to consumers, who can become addicted to the drug. With bouts of extreme euphoria, loss of voice, and even the possibility of death, Skooma is dangerous within the gaming world. Still, Bethesda’s iconic drink has become a staple among fans, who will now get a chance to try a safer version of Skooma for themselves.

According to a Twitter post from Bethesda UK, the game company has teamed up with Rebel Distillers and Jim and Tonic to create Skyrim’s Skooma drug in real life. “The Elder Scrolls SKOOMA Absinthe,” is Rogue Absinthe at 69% ABV and 70 calories, being sold through the Skooma store for a limited time. The product brings an iconic item from Skyrim to real life, and the first batch will be dispatched over the course of three days, starting December 15, pre-orders now open. The “Special Limited Edition Release” is being sold for £69.00, with domestic UK shipping and tracked international shipping available. The official website revealed that there will be a second batch offered as well, though the release date of that batch is still unclear.

Rebel Distillers teamed up with Bethesda before, having created the Doom Bone Vodka in late 2019. The London-based distillers created the game-themed alcohol in celebration of Doom Eternal and included ingredients like organic wheat base and ethically sourced beef bones. Expanding its partnership, Bethesda and Rebel Distillers have moved onto the world of Skyrim. The Skooma Absinthe comes in an authentic Ceramic bottle which is a “harp back to the mystical nature of the continent of Tamriel.”

Though it isn’t The Elder Scrolls’ Khajiit that are selling the real-life Skooma, the real-life product does stay true to the game’s lore by keeping the signature purple bottle. Looking like something straight out of Skyrim, it’s possible Rebel Distillers and Jim and Tonic leveled up their alchemy skills to produce the Skooma absinthe.
