Smallville: 10 Hidden Details You Missed About Lois Lane

Superman fans can look forward to seeing more of Lois Lane in the upcoming Arrowverse series Superman & Lois even though that’s a different version of Clark’s soulmate. Lois from Smallville—who initially resided in Earth-167 and exists within the Arrowverse—is currently said to be living a normal life with Clark after the Kryptonian gave up his powers and retired.

In most Superman tales, Clark meets Lois while working at the Daily Planet. However, in Smallville, he meets her while he is still a high school student. This gives the series plenty of time to explore her background and motivations. Viewers come to learn a lot about her but there is plenty of information that can be easily missed.

10 She Has A Peculiar Sleeping Habit

Lois has a rather bizarre subconscious habit that is revealed in the Season 6 episode ”Crossfire.” In the episode, she walks into Oliver Queen’s office to let him know that she and Clark have been hired to host Good Morning Metropolis together.

She also intends to go on a blind date since Clark went on one too. She asks Oliver about any annoying traits he noticed when he dated her… traits that would put off a potential partner. Oliver assures her that she except for the fact that she keeps mentioning popular football players while she is asleep.

9 She Has Dated Three Justice League Members

Lois has been romantically involved with three of Smallville‘s Justice League members. In Season 5, she has a brief relationship with a University Of Miami student Arthur “AC” Curry who is later revealed to be Aquaman. She falls for him after he outraces Clark in an attempt to save her as she is drowning.

In Season 6, Lois slams the door at Oliver Queen’s face, not knowing he is the wealthy CEO of Queen Industries. When she finally finds out who he is, she looks for him and apologizes. He then asks her out and the two begin dating. Lastly, Lois dates the one and only Clark Kent who she realizes is her soulmate.

8 She Is Allergic To Cats And Dogs

Lois would definitely not get married to a pet lover. Or her partner would just have to forego having pets. Her allergy becomes evident in Season 4’s “Krypto” when she runs over a dog and carries it to the farm to heal. Contact with the dog makes Lois get so sick that she is forced to go to bed.

Lois also has close contact with a cat in Season 8’s “Toxic” and ends up sneezing uncontrollably. She becomes worried that she will become as sick as Oliver Queen.

7 She ‘Has And Affair’ With Lex Luthor

Jimmy Olson has a noir 1940’s dream sequence in Season 6’s “Noir.” In it, Lois is a sultry lounge singer who goes on to have an affair with the villain Lex Luthor.

In the dream, Jimmy snaps a photo of Lex and Lois kissing at the lounge. Lex also promises Lois that the affair will continue once he has dealt with his wife. When Lex sees Jimmy, he chases him but fails to catch him. During a confrontation between Jimmy and Lex, later on, Jimmy shoots Lex and kills him.

6 High Alcohol Tolerance

Lois’ alcohol tolerance might actually rival that of Ron from Parks & Recreation. She posses the ability to drink large quantities of liquor while remaining sober.

In Season 4’s “Recruit,” Lois engages a drinking contest with a fellow Metropolis University student named Coop at a frat party. Coop insists on continuing with the contest but still loses to Lois. He then becomes very drunk while Lois remains sober. In Season 10’s “Shield,” she also engages in another drinking contest with Carter Hall and wins.

5 Her Ability To Break Clark From Mind Spells

Lois is the only normal human capable of breaking Clark from his mind spells. In Season 4’s “Pariah,” Clark finds out that Tim killed Alicia. He confronts him and the two go on to fight. Clark burns him with heat vision and proceeds to strangle him. When Lois shows up, Clark stops attacking Tim and comes back to his senses.

In Season 8’s “Instinct,” Maxima appears to Clark in an elevator and proceeds to kiss him. Clark kisses her back because she has possessed him but when Lois shows up, Clark goes back to his senses. And in Season 9’s “Warrior,” Zatanna” casts a spell on Clark, making him kiss her but when he thinks about Lois, the spell ends.

4 Her Favorite Bands

Lois is an avid fan of English rock bands Whitesnake and Def Leppard. This is first revealed in Season 5’s “Exposed” when Lois goes undercover at a strip club to investigate the death of a stripper only to get kidnapped.

In Season 6’s “Crimson” her love for the two bands is also emphasized again. When she goes to the Talon, she buys red lipstick which she is unaware is laced with Red Kryptonite. This makes her deeply attracted to Clark. She later kisses him and tries to dance with him as she praises Def Leppard but Clark gets sick from the Kryptonite’s effects.

3 She Initially Has Poor Writing Skills

A career in journalism requires one to have proper writing skills but Lois is portrayed as a poor writer during the early stages of her career. Whether she improves or not is never revealed. It can be assumed that she does improve since she goes on to become one of the best journalists in the country.

In Season 6’s “Sneeze,” Lois gets a job at the Inquisitor. She writes a story about a mini-tornado and offers it to Chloe but Chloe claims her writing skills are wanting. Lois then shops the story elsewhere.  And in Season 7’s “Blue” Lois begins dating her editor Grant who points out her poor writing skills.

2 She Is Multilingual

Lois is fluent in English, French, and Spanish. This information was in her profile on the dating website Metropolis Singles as seen in the Season 9 episode “Crossfire.”

In the episode, Lois and Clark are both hired to host the Good Morning Metropolis show. When Clark comes over to Lois’ desk to see what she has been working on for so long, he finds her filling out her profile on Metropolis Singles. Clark wonders why she is taking so long yet he filled his own profile in under 10 minutes. Perhaps he forgot that Lois wasn’t superhuman.

1 Her Love For Cars And The Models She Drives

Lois loves cars. Clark once finds himself in a dilemma of how best to impress her. He uses his mind-reading powers and realizes that she wishes to be taken to a monster truck rally.

During her time on the series, she has driven cool cars such as the GMC Envoy, and a red 2005 Ford Fusion. In Season 7’s “Bizarro,” she drives a 2007 Toyota Camry. She also buys a red Pontiac, which is eventually crushed by Maxima in Season 8’s “Instinct.” And in Season 9, she hits the streets with a red convertible as well as a red Chrysler Sebring Sedan.
