Paramount Pictures unveils the final trailer for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, teasing Andrew Koji’s Tommy becoming iconic archenemy Storm Shadow. The third installment in the live-action film franchise based on Hasbro’s line of toys will explore the origins of the team’s iconic titular ninja. Snake Eyes will also explore the early days of the villainous terrorist organization Cobra and the hero’s journey to eventually joining G.I. Joe.

The film began development in mid-2018 after Paramount’s failure to continue the G.I. Joe franchise with a threequel and will take the soft rebootquel approach Bumblebee successfully used for the Transformers series. Putting together a cast with Henry Golding starring as Snake Eyes, production got underway in late 2019 and wrapped in early 2020, though due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic saw its release date delayed multiple times. As the release is finally right around the corner, Paramount is looking to build anticipation for the action-thriller.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

With just a few days to go until the film hits theaters, Paramount Pictures has unveiled the final trailer for Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. From the time he was first announced to star in the film, audiences have known and been preparing to see Koji become Storm Shadow for the G.I. Joe origin movie. Given the character acts as an antagonist to the military team, but primarily an archenemy to his ninja former blood brother Snake Eyes, the story was going to necessitate a turn to the dark side for the character, but the trailer’s confirmation of said change coming in Snake Eyes might prove a bit too soon of a reveal. With previous trailers featuring plenty of footage of Koji’s Tommy fighting in white garb akin to the character’s original outfit, it seems likely this change will at least come some time prior to the end of the film.

Even if this change is saved for a cliffhanger finale, it may come as a nice tease for fans to know Koji will become the villainous Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins. Additionally, the review quotes featured in the trailer should prove enticing for some concerned about the film’s quality after its lackluster predecessors. Luckily for fans, the wait is almost over to see if the film can clear that low bar set as it arrives in theaters this week.
