Snowfall: Main Characters, Ranked By Likability

First, it was The Wire and its amazing plot twist. Then came Power and its storylines of what happens after one leaves the drug game. Now, viewers are glued to their TV screens to watch how Franklin Saint and the government control the drug trade in South Los Angeles in the powerful show Snowfall.

Snowfall has a chance to go down as one of the best TV shows ever. Franklin makes it easy to root for the bad guy. Leon is his right hand but fans can see the downfall coming. His mother Cissy was against it but can viewers get behind her reason for switching? Teddy works for the government but he’s the reason why the communities are falling apart.

10 Lucia Villanueva

Is Lucia set to make a return? She was the brains behind the operation that included her and Gustavo but vanished. Lucia was another character who didn’t take no for an answer. Raised in the drug trade, Lucia wanted to keep her family’s name alive. However, the weight of it all plus the betrayal of her cousin was too much for her to handle.

Leaving Gustavo behind was not a well-calculated move and one that Lucia may have to atone for if she does return. She has proven a few times to be spoiled and only about herself.

9 Avi Drexler

Avi is comedy relief in Snowfall. He was the one who actually gave Franklin his start in the cocaine business but it did come with strings in which Franklin didn’t see until later on. Avi is a snake but in that business, one must move accordingly. His life has been spared far too many times and for that, Avi does believe he’s a bit untouchable.

As one of the older characters on the show, Avi has never set a good example. His home, money, and cars were just an illusion that helped pull young Franklin in.

8 Melody Wright

The girl next door that Franklin always had a crush on turned into his biggest enemy and deadliest threat. It wasn’t supposed to be this way for Mel. Her father was a cop and she was headed for college and just lost her way in the process. Mel is intelligent but it goes to show that crack can take no prisoners with the prime goal of destroying their lives.

Mel learned of her father’s murder and knew it was Franklin who pulled the trigger. She sought revenge and while she did shoot him, Mel didn’t do enough to kill him. Will she return and finish the job is a question viewers want to know?

7 Cissy Saint

How does a hard-working mother deal with her child being labeled as the biggest drug dealer in South L.A.? This is what Cissy Saint is dealing with. Her work habit was strong while working for a slum lord. She did everything right as a single parent but still felt as though she failed Franklin.

Instead of fighting it, Cissy came on-board as part of the team and helped Franklin run his operation. Cissy even took back Franklin’s father and as a family, they’re helping to clean his money but it wasn’t all smooth sailing at first.

6 Leon Simmons

Leon at times gets a raw deal but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s Franklin’s best friend and right-hand man. What makes Leon a liability is his willingness to go overboard or not think about his actions. He’s a loose cannon but in the beginning, he’s exactly what Franklin needed to get the business off the ground.

The bigger question is, how long will this union last? Franklin is tiring of Leon’s actions and there may come a time where they may part ways. Despite his outburst, Leon is still loyal to his friend. He just has to get his emotions in check.

5 Jerome Saint

Uncle Jerome taught his nephew Franklin the game and then Franklin surpassed him on the food chain. However, Jerome never took that as a slight. He’s family and will do whatever he has to do to make sure his nephew stays on top of the game. But even Jerome has his breaking point.

After being beaten by the cops, Jerome decided it was time to back away from the business and began his legit hustle. But Franklin needed his help and Jerome found himself pulled back in.

4 Teddy McDonald

Can Teddy really be blamed for his actions? In his mind, he’s doing what has to be done to help fight the wars but he’s using people in the process. Teddy has sacrificed plenty for his country and in the process, he’s viewed as a cancer.

His story arc has gone through some tough times much like McNulty in The Wire but his mission has never stopped. Teddy has no choice but to lie, especially to Franklin. But now that the truth is out, viewers are waiting to see how this dynamic plays out for Teddy in the future.

3 Aunt Louie

Aunt Louie is tough as nails. Her upbringing was enough to break most people but if it wasn’t for her connections in the game, Franklin would not be where he is today. While she does indeed love Jerome, her love for her nephew Franklin is just as strong. Louie sees the pitfalls coming but the money is just too good to keep passing up.

Louie will go down fighting for the team or even do the time that’s presented in front of her. Franklin understands her worth and that’s the one person he does listen to when advice is needed.

2 Franklin Saint

Franklin Saint is the young kid who left school to work but managed to fumble his way into a top position in South Los Angeles. It wasn’t supposed to be this way for the gifted kid but he’s too smart for his own good. What makes Franklin so dangerous is that he’s lost that innocence he displayed in the first season.

Franklin, much like Avon Barksdale off The Wire, built an empire off his brain and the hustle of others. Now, he’s aware that he’s working with the government and the damage his drugs are doing to his people and community and Franklin just doesn’t care.

1 Gustavo Zapata

Gustavo, the former wrestler turned bodyguard for Lucia was perceived to be all. muscle and no brain. But if it wasn’t for him, Lucia and Franklin would have been killed in the first season. Gustavo is a loyal character who gives it to people who didn’t deserve it.

With Lucia gone, Gustavo found a way to make things work between Mexico and the United States. But at what cost? He’s now dealing with Teddy directly and much like Franklin, he has no idea what he has gotten himself into.
