Sofia Black-D’Elia may not be a household name yet. However, since her debut in 2009, she has had a fairly impressive acting career, involving both high profile movies and TV shows. After starting her career with recurring character Bailey in ABC’s All My Children, she was cast in the American remake of the British teen drama series Skins.

In 2015, she further cemented her place as an actress by landing a prominent role in Michael Bay-produced Project Almanac and appearing in HBO miniseries The Night Of soon after. Considering her linear growth in the industry, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her in even bigger roles in the future. With that said, below’s a rundown of her top ten TV shows and movies, all ranked by their IMDb ratings.

10 Project Almanac (6.4)

Project Almanac is about a studious high schooler David Raskin (Jonny Weston), who fails to get into MIT’s science scholarship program. But just when his widowed mother decides to sell their home to pay for his college tuition, he discovers an old video camera in his deceased father’s belongings. When he plays the tape in the camera, he discovers something unexplainable.

The video, recorded on his seventh birthday day, shows an eighteen-year-old version of himself standing with the same camera. It’s this mysterious discovery that leads David and his friends to his father’s time machine, dubbed “Project Almanac.” With what follows, the group goes back and forth in time, through bizarre adventures—and misadventures.

9 The Messengers (6.5)

The CW’s The Messengers is a mystery drama with a supernatural twist. The 13-episode series revolves around a group of strangers, who are connected by a mysterious object that kills them after it plummets on Earth. Upon reawakening, these individuals discover that they now helm the responsibility of saving humanity from an imminent apocalypse.

8 All My Children (6.6)

Interestingly, along with being Sofia Black’s acting debut, All My Children also features Black Panther co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman playing the same character.

Set in a fictional Philadelphian suburb, the series sheds light on the ups and downs, high and lows of several families who find their way through a myriad of social problems such as same-sex marriages, AIDS, and abortions.

7 The Immigrant (6.6)

Starring Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jeremy Renner, The Immigrant is a critically-acclaimed romance drama. With stunning visuals and memorable performances, the film highlights the struggles of a Polish immigrant nurse, who is tricked into prostitution after she attempts to reunite with her quarantined sister.

Although Sofia Black plays a minimal role—that of a few seconds—in The Immigrant, the film’s star-studded cast and positive reviews do add some credentials to her name.

6 Invisible (6.6)

360-degree filmmaking still has a long way to go, but the addition of narrative storytelling in the medium is clearly a step forward. Invisible is among the first few major scripted series created exclusively for 360-degree virtual reality.

The sci-fi drama centers on a New York-based family that possesses the ability to turn invisible and in turn, do things that completely alter the world’s economy. Sofia Black-D’Elia plays one of the leading roles in the lesser-known series. Considering that Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) has directed it, it sure is a major landmark in the actress’ career.

5 Betrayal (7.0)

Based on the Dutch drama series Overspel, Betrayal tells the story of a photographer, Sara, who gets involved in an extramarital affair with a powerful lawyer. Although the show’s IMDb rating is fairly average, it was thrashed by critics soon after its release. That’s probably the reason why ABC canceled it after one season. Even so, since Sofia Black-D’Elia plays a recurring role in the show, fans of the actress can check it out.

4 Gossip Girl (7.4)

With six seasons under its belt, Gossip Girl is one of the most popular teen-driven dramas. Over its span, the series features multiple addictive and titillating story arcs that portray the lives of privileged Manhattan prep school teens.

Along with Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, Sofia Black-D’Elia is among the many stars who initiated their acting endeavors with the electric teen drama and later acquired a place in mainstream Hollywood.

3 The Mick (7.8)

Unfavorable critic ratings were probably the reason why The Mick was canceled too soon. However, the sitcom still garnered a pretty huge fanbase with its outlandish but hilarious premise, well-written characters, and commendable cast.

The show centers on Mackenzie “Mickey” Murphy, who learns the awful realities of parenthood after she moves to Greenwich to raise the abandoned kids of her wealthy sister. In the series, Sofia Black-D’Elia is Sabrina Pemberton, the oldest and the brattiest of all the kids Mickey has to raise.

2 The Night Of (8.5)

Adapted from the BBC series Criminal Justice, HBO’s The Night Of is far from being a formulaic crime drama. Although it does have a core underlying mystery, its plot is mostly run by an overarching trial that becomes more gripping with each episode.

Played brilliantly by Riz Ahmed, Nasir Khan is the pivotal character of the miniseries, who is charged with the murder of a mysterious woman he had previously given a lift. Among all the notable performances in the show, Sofia Black finds her place as Andrea Cornish, the same woman whose murder is at the center of the show’s plot.

1 Your Honor (8.6)

Showtime’s legal drama Your Honor is not only Sofia Black’s highest-rated IMDb show but also features one of her most noteworthy performances alongside Bryan Cranston, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Hope Davis.

As the title suggests, Your Honor is a crime drama in which Bryan Cranston plays a committed lawyer. But when his own son is involved in a hit-and-run case, he defies his own convictions towards his profession and stops at nothing to save his son.
