It’s hard to find any fault in the character development and general storylines in Sons Of Anarchy. Almost everything regarding the main and supporting characters was satisfactory, if not excellent. No viewer can argue that they never got enough of Jax or that Clay’s romance with Gemma was inconclusive.

However, when it came to the minor characters portrayed by guest stars, fans were often left wanting more. Sadly, nothing more ever came. Minor characters were often discarded so as to push the agenda of the main ones. While not all guest stars gave spectacular performances, a few of them are hard to forget.

10 Danny Trejo

Trejo needs not to be introduced. In Sons Of Anarchy, he was brilliant as Romero Prada, a Galindo cartel enforcer who had previously served in the Mexican military. Romero showed up in Season 4 to trade guns with SAMCRO. It was also revealed that his cartel was responsible for protecting a couple of Sons while they had been locked up.

It later emerged that Prada was an undercover CIA operative. His mission was to bring down the Irish Kings and in order to do that, he needed SAMCRO to stay in the gun business. Sadly, he left after Galen’s death. It would have been interesting to see him stay in the series a bit longer and try to bring down SAMCRO too.

9 Annabeth Gish

Gish has had numerous roles, including that of Agent Monica Reyes in X-Files. She appeared briefly in SOA’s seventh season as the new boss of the San Joaquin Sheriff Department, Lieutenant Althea Jarry. Her first task was investigating the death of Tara who had just been killed by Gemma. To help solves the case quickly, she gave retired police chief Wayne Unser a job as a consultant.

Althea was one of the more understanding and clean cops in the series. She also developed an interesting romance with Chibs with the two going as far as to make love on top of a police car. The relationship between cop and gangster should have played out for a longer. Sadly, after only seeing each other three or four times, the two broke up and Althea was never heard from again.

8 Andy McPhee

Australian actor Andy McPhee appeared in the show’s second season as SAMBEL President Keith McGee. He was introduced after a few members of the mother charter went to Belfast to get Jax’s kidnapped son Abel.

McGee offered to host the Sons but he was a traitor in secret. Apparently, he was working with their enemy Jimmy O. He planned to push the mother charter out of the gun business with the True IRA so that his own charter would benefit. McPhee did a great job at portraying the Judas traits of McGee. But it wasn’t long before his secret was discovered.

7 David Hasselhoff

The Hoff is a familiar name in Hollywood. He only appeared in one episode of Season 4 as Dodo, a retired porn producer. Dodo assisted Jax and his crew to get justice on a fellow producer named Georgie. The Sons were suspecting that Georgie had something to do with Luann’s death.

A start like Hoff should have been kept around for much longer. After Luann’s death, the Sons should have forced him out of retirement like they did with Unser and made him their go-to porn producer.

6 Hal Holbrook

The veteran Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actor briefly played Gemma’s father Nate Madok. Gemma went to see him a few times in the series.

Nate had one of the best scenes in the series when he shot Tig after finding him having sex with his caregiver. Nate, who was suffering from dementia, thought the caregiver was his late wife. He was taken to a retirement home shortly after though it would have been better if the father-daughter dynamic between him and Gemma had played out for longer.

5 Taryn Manning

Manning is best known for portraying Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett in Orange Is the New Black. Before that, she portrayed the Crow Eater Cherry in the biker series. Cherry always hanged around the clubhouse, hoping to date one of the SAMCRO members. Prospect Half-Sack eventually fell for her and the two began seeing each other.

Sadly, their love was never smooth. Clay slept with her in order to punish Half-Sack for desiring Gemma. She was also targeted by ATF agent June Stahl who tried to get her to rat on the club. She thus had to flee to Belfast, marking the end of her story. Given how much they loved each other, a long-term relationship between her and Half-Sack might have been good for the show.

4 Jay Kames

Karnes has made a career out of psychotic men on TV. In the FX series, he had a short run as ATF agent Josh Kohn. He came to Charming with the pretense that he was investigating SAMCRO. In truth, he was stalking his ex-girlfriend and Jax’s lover Tara Knowles. He was doing this despite the fact that he had a restraining order.

Jax beat him up and warned him to leave but he said. His stubbornness cost him when he was killed by both Jax and Tara. The two then went on to make love next to his body. Other than enemies of the club, Jax needed a personal enemy who’d be present for a few seasons. Kohn hardly even used his powers as a law enforcement officer to try and crush him.

3 Sarah Jones

She’s been unfortunate to be in many shows that got canceled but Jones’ resume is still impressive. She played Polly, the daughter of villain Ethan Zobell in the second season of Sons Of Anarchy.

Like her father, Polly was extremely evil. She tricked and subdued Gemma before she was assaulted by LOAN members. This incident ought to have led to a greater rivalry between her and Gemma. Sadly, she died after she rushed to say goodbye to her lover Edmond. She and her father were planning to flee Charming to avoid the club’s wrath.

2 Michael Chiklis

Chiklis was one of the main characters in Kutt Sutter’s previous show The Shield. In the show, he played LAPD’s, Detective Vic Mackey. In the world of bikers, he had a limited role as the truck driver Milo.

Milo was driving the truck that Jax crashed into in the series finale. Earlier, in a coincidental twist, he had given Gemma a ride as she was fleeing from the club. Nothing would have been more interesting than a brief romance between Gemma and Milo. Jax crashing into a truck belonging to his mother’s lover without knowing would have been interesting, to say the least.

1 Joel McHale

Jeff from Community? McHale briefly starred in Sons Of Anarchy as Warren, a guy Gemma flirted with in a bar only to wake up in the morning and discover that he had stolen her money and car.

Strangely enough, the Sons only took weed and money from him after they hunted him down and cornered him. One would think that messing with the mother of a president would warrant more punishment. Nero, who deeply loved Gemma, never handed down severe punishment and neither did Clay.
