Spider-Man 3 Set Photos Reveal MCU Sequel Is Set At Christmas

New Spider-Man 3 set photos reveal Peter Parker (Tom Holland) visiting MJ (Zendaya) during the holiday season, which looks to be the movie’s setting. The MCU’s Spider-Man 3 is currently scheduled to debut at the end of this year, and filming has been underway for a couple of months now. Much of the buzz has so far surrounded the film’s expansive supporting cast, which will draw upon past Spider-Man movies. For example, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have reportedly been in talks along with those such as Kirsten Dunst, Emma Stone, and Jamie Foxx. That, plus the presence of Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, has seemingly confirmed Spider-Man 3 will dive into the multiverse.

Between the many casting reports that have emerged, it’s easy to forget that first and foremost, Spider-Man 3 will center on Holland’s Peter. He’ll be joined by several familiar faces from his past MCU adventures, like Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), and MJ. Peter will definitely need all the help he can get, for previous installment Spider-Man: Far From Home concluded with Peter being exposed to the world as Spider-Man and framed for Mysterio’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) murder.

With that in mind, these latest Spider-Man 3 set photos present a rather interesting scenario. Just Jared recently caught sight of Holland and Zendaya on a donut shop set. According to the report, Peter is seen going inside the shop with the intention of talking to MJ, who is working there alongside Ned. Additionally, Atlanta Filming provided a clear shot of the donut shop’s exterior, which features Christmas decorations. Evidently, at least a part of Spider-Man 3 will take place at Christmastime, possibly giving the MCU their first proper Christmas movie. Check out the pics down below.

Peter and MJ’s donut shop meetup has some interesting implications for Spider-Man 3. Many assumed the end of Far From Home would result in Peter going on the run, or at the very least distancing himself from those he loves. However, the photos reveal Peter willingly showing his face in public. Perhaps this takes place whenever he’s managed to clear his name? Another potential scenario is that Peter is simply willing to accept any consequences that might arise just so he can see MJ. With the two having got together at the end of Far From Home, they’re hopefully still going strong.

Regardless of where in the film this scene takes place, it does confirm that Spider-Man 3 will have a holiday slant, even if it’s only for a couple of minutes. In that sense, the December release date might be perfect. Spider-Man 3 was once scheduled for release in July, but the coronavirus pandemic forced some reshuffling. Hopefully, Spider-Man 3 will remain in place for December so fans can have another reason to celebrate during the holiday season.
