Spider-Man: No Way Home Pre-Sales Crash AMC & Other Ticketing Websites

The release of Spider-Man: No Way Home tickets crashed AMC and other vendors’ websites overnight, including Fandango and Regal. As promised, the tickets for the much-anticipated Marvel Studios and Sony collaboration movie are now available on pre-sale. Hype for the tickets’ release has been building for weeks, and reached a peak following the release of the second Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer earlier this month.

With less than three weeks to go before Spider-Man: No Way Home exclusively hits theaters, marketing for the film is ramping up. In addition to the release of its second (and likely final) trailer, posters and shorter clips are being rolled out to keep the Marvel fans’ enthusiasm at maximum levels. Set after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, the threequel will see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) deal with the fallout of his secret superhero identity being revealed to the public. However, this particular issue will be the least of his concerns, as a bigger problem looms large with various former Spider-Man villains suddenly popping in on Earth thanks to Doctor Strange seemingly opening the multiverse. Considering this epic new multiversal threat, not to mention rumors of former Spider-Men Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire returning as their versions of the wall-crawler for the Phase 4 movie, it’s no surprise fans are eager to see what Spider-Man: No Way Home will entail.

However, many theaters may have not anticipated just how enthusiastic the public is about Spider-Man: No Way Home. Fans stayed up late to purchase tickets when they became available last night at midnight (November 29), but many of them ended up being disappointed. Buying tickets turned out to be quite difficult, with several ticketing sites including AMC, Fandango and Regal all crashing, and some company apps also failing. There are many things to be excited about in Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the most anticipated element is by far the return of bad guys from both Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man franchise and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man movies. So far the trailers have confirmed the involvement of Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Rhys Ifans’ Lizard, and Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman. Given their appearance, many are also convinced that Maguire and Garfield will show up, despite no concrete indication that their rumored cameos are anything but speculation. Nevertheless, the threequel has been described as the Avengers: Endgame of Holland’s Spider-Man film series, with the star himself saying that it will bring together “three generations” of Spider-Man movies. So, aside from those who are invested in Holland’s iteration of the wall-crawler, those who loved Raimi and Webbs’ take on the character are also eager to check it out.

Of course, interest in Spider-Man: No Way Home is not new, and has been at impressive levels since the project’s announcement. In fact, the film’s trailer became the most-watched video ever in 24 hours, easily beating Avengers: Endgame‘s record as the previous champion of Marvel movie hype. The consistent buzz online is another indication that fans are fully invested in the movie, so it’s curious that ticketing sites didn’t seem prepared for the huge influx of people trying to buy tickets for it. Hopefully, the vendors are better prepared for future sale rounds, or the Spider-Man: No Way Home fandom is sure to be extremely disappointed once again.
