Warning! Spoilers ahead for Spider-Man: No Way Home

Spider-Man actors Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland pose together in a brand new image. On the heels of Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s release in theaters, two of the three stars who have played the wall-crawler on the big screen have seemingly spent some time together. This has understandably excited many fans as this is the first time they are spotted side-by-side.

Maguire is the first actor who played Spider-Man on the big screen, when Sony Pictures made Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man film in 2002. He played the role two more times in Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, capping off the trilogy and ultimately leading to a reboot in Marc Webb’s 2012 film The Amazing Spider-Man, which starred Andrew Garfield. But after The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s failure, Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige convinced Sony to team up for a brand new iteration of the character, and in 2016, Holland’s version of the web-slinger debuted in Captain America: Civil War. After a couple of solo adventures and two Avengers projects, MCU’s Spider-Man tackles his biggest and most personal story yet in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Amidst the release of the Jon Watts-directed flick in theaters, Holland and Maguire have been spotted hanging out with each other, as seen in a new image. The snap was shared by wiresonly on Instagram. Since there’s no context given for the photo, it’s uncertain what brought the pair together. Nevertheless, it should be enough to excite fans, considering the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Check out the image below:

This image itself means a lot for Spider-Man fans, as it implies that there might be a personal relationship between Holland and Maguire. Holland has previously been spotted interacting with Garfield at a Hollywood function, and all three actors apparently have a Spider-Man group chat, which makes sense considering what goes down in Spider-Man: No Way Home. After months of persistent rumors, fans were finally able to confirm that both Maguire and Garfield are in the movie. Their versions of the Web-slinger come to the MCU to help Holland’s iteration fight inter-dimensional villains such as Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, among others.

Given the renewed interest in Maguire and Garfield’s respective versions of Spider-Man, fans are wondering if they will ever pop up in any upcoming Marvel Studios/Sony project. At the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, they return to their own worlds with their villains, and while there’s no promise of keeping in touch, it felt like it isn’t going to be the last time that three iterations of the hero team-up. In any case, considering MCU’s burgeoning multiverse, it won’t be that difficult to bring them back together moving forward.
