Warning: SPOILERS for Symbiote Spider-Man: Alien Reality #1

Spider-Man has had many romantic partners over the years, and while his true love is still up for debate among fans, a new one has just entered the picture — and it proves Peter is into redheads. When Spider-Man is transported to another reality, he finds himself locking lips with the Black Cat. What is more shocking is that the Black Cat of this reality is actually Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. the Black Widow.

Symbiote Spider-Man: Alien Reality #1 is showing untold stories of Spider-Man during his time after coming back to Earth after the events of the Secret Wars with his new black suit, before he knew the suit as Venom. The miniseries by Peter David and Greg Land has begun, and it has begun with Peter being pulled into an alien reality after being poisoned by Kraven the Hunter during a fight. As Spidey regains consciousness, he finds himself in front of a much more friendly looking Hunter.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Suffering from the shock of the safari guide looking Kraven, Spider-Man takes off to think through his present predicament. He spots the Black Cat playing on the rooftops, and is excited to see a friendly face that may help him figure out what is going on. But when he gets up close, red hair replaces the classic white hair and she does not respond well to being called Felicia. However, the redhead does respond well when Peter calls her Natasha, better known to Peter as the Black Widow. Spider-Man’s head continues to spin when she calls him Peter, and even more when she grabs him and kisses him — saying they are lovers.

Peter freaks out — putting it lightly, and literally runs away from Natasha, yelling at her not to follow him. As Spider-Man puts it, the world has gone insane, and he needs answers. So he goes to the only place he knows that he could get good advice from when everything is insane, the Sanctum Sanctorum — the home of Doctor Strange. However, Peter quickly discovers that this reality is ripe with differences, and it appears one classic villain is at the center of it all — the Hobgoblin.

The Hobgoblin has somehow taken over as this reality’s sorcerer supreme — a title that should belong to Doctor Strange. The Hobgoblin clearly understands why Peter is so confused, and appears to be the reason behind this warped reality. The Hobgoblin seems to have mastered the mystic arts, from the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak to turning Spider-Man’s webbing into snakes, the Hobby has become a serious threat to Peter. Spider-Man eventually escapes, with help from his Spider-buggy and a homeless man who reveals himself as the true Doctor Strange. How Natasha went from Widow to Cat remains to be seen, but it appears to be apart of a dastardly plan with the Hobgoblin at the center of it.
