A second MCU Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland could see Peter Parker truly becoming more like Iron Man. While Spider-Man: Far From Home saw Peter struggling with the concept of filling Tony Stark’s shoes and becoming his own hero, a new trilogy could feature Spider-Man taking on the roles Iron Man held by becoming a leader. Furthermore, he could also become a mentor, helping train new heroes introduced into the MCU.

It was recently reported that Sony is hoping to produce a second MCU Spider-Man trilogy following Spider-Man: No Way Home, the conclusion of the current Homecoming trilogy. This would presumedly continue the adventures of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker in the MCU as he leaves high school and becomes more of a fully-fledged adult hero, following his adventures in both the Homecoming saga and phase 3 of the wider MCU. This increasingly prominent role, which started in 2016 with Captain America: Civil War, makes it more than likely that Spider-Man will be front and center when the Avengers do eventually reassemble after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Assuming Peter Parker survives No Way Home and finds a way to restore the multiversal incursions of past Spider-Man villains, there’s no telling what could be next for the MCU’s Webslinger. However, a dynamic future for Peter Parker could see him becoming a leader just like Iron Man was. It’s also possible he could help train potential future MCU heroes such as Miles Morales, the Spider-Man of Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. Miles could very well make his way to the MCU due to Peter’s upcoming multiversal mayhem or the reality-jumping adventures experienced by Miles himself in the animated Into the Spider-Verse film (as well as the upcoming Spider-Verse 2).

While Far From Home helped Spider-Man become his own hero outside of Iron Man’s shadow, he could still take inspiration from Tony Stark by fulfilling his past role in the MCU. The older and more experienced Peter Parker becomes, the more it makes sense for him to step up and lead in a new trilogy of films. This could even pave the way for Spider-Man eventually leading the Avengers, or a whole new team of heroes.

In any case, a new MCU trilogy for Spider-Man creates a wealth of possibilities where Peter Parker could become even more of a prominent hero than he already is. While being a leader and mentor like Iron Man feels like a logical next phase for the character, there’s no telling where the Wallcrawler could go next. That being said, it would certainly be fitting to see Spider-Man honor Iron Man by leading and/or guiding the next generation of MCU heroes.
