Warning! Spoilers for The Amazing Spider-Man #87 by Marvel Comics

In a brand new preview for The Amazing Spider-Man #87, Peter Parker returns to action in his worst costume ever, a variation of his Bombastic Bagman suit. But in order to prove he’s ready to be Spider-Man again, the hero will need to show Black Cat and Spider-Man he’s fully recovered while hilariously wearing a paper bag over his head to hide his secret identity.

Spider-Man has worn plenty of ridiculous costumes over the years. Still, none might be worse than the time he sported the Bombastic Bagman suit after being separated from the Venom symbiote. After losing his suit and needing a costume to protect his secret identity, the Fantastic Four gave the web-slinger one of their spare suits, which was accented with a giant paper bag for a mask. As a result, the Bombastic Bagman costume has become a meme of sorts, appearing as a wearable outfit in multiple Spider-Man video games, including most recently in Marvel’s Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4. Now, Spider-Man returns to the look, but with a new twist.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Peter Parker returns to action in a brand new preview of The Amazing Spider-Man #87 by Jed MacKay, Carlos Gomez, Bryan Valenza, and VC’s Joe Caramagna. However, he struggles with adjusting to superheroic life after suffering a devastating injury. The preview opens with Black Cat and Captain America withholding Peter Parker’s suit, as MJ gave it to them to make sure he earns it by showing he’s ready. Instead, Spider-Man sports a crop top, jeans, and a paper bag over his head, recreating the Bombastic Baghead look – his worst look ever.

Still, despite being able to swing from rooftops, Spider-Man can’t keep up with Black Cat. The preview ends with Peter Parker crash-landing into a group of restaurant-goers with a bag over his head, as he notes that he shouldn’t be as bad at web-slinging as he is.

Spider-Man is still recovering from a near career-ending injury, so the fact he’s back in action at all is incredibly impressive. However, Peter Parker doesn’t see it as a victory; instead, he’s left wondering why he’s struggling so much. Relearning the fundamentals has got to be difficult for a hero that’s been doing it for as long as he has – all while embarrassing himself while wearing a Bombastic Baghead costume. Spider-Man’s worst costume’s return comes during a difficult time, but at least the web-slinger is making a promising comeback attempt to earn his original suit back. The Amazing Spider-Man #87 arrives in comic book stores now.
