New Spider-Verse fan art has debuted online showing what Oscar Isaac could look like as the futuristic Spider-Man 2099 in live-action. Isaac debuted in his voiceover version of the character during the credits of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018. He is set to reprise the role when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse debuts in theaters later this coming year.

As his name would suggest, Spider-Man 2099 is a version of Spider-Man hailing from the future – 2099 to be exact. His real name is Miguel O’Hara, and the character debuted in the early 1990s in Marvel Comics. He is instantly recognizable due to the unique design of his Spider-Man costume, which foregoes the traditional white eyes in favor of a sharper red design. He has yet to debut in a live-action Spider-Man film, but his arrival to the Spider-Verse was hilariously teased during the post-credits of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with Isaac stepping into the role to have Miguel cross paths with the Spider-Man from the 1960s cartoon.

Now, with Isaac set to reprise his role as Miguel O’Hara when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) debuts in October, many fans are already expressing their enthusiasm for the actor’s tenure in the role. In fact, Twitter user Jeremy Verburg has posted fan art showcasing what Isaac could look like as the hero. Check it out below:

At this point, audiences don’t currently know what the Spider-Verse version of Miguel O’Hara looks like under his mask. His face was concealed during the credits sequence for Into the Spider-Verse, and the brief teaser for Across the Spider-Verse continued that concealment. However, this fan art gives fans an idea of what a live-action Spider-Man 2099 could look like with Isaac in the role, and it arguably does seem like a natural fit.

With all of that in mind, it’s worth wondering if a live-action version of Spider-Man 2099 will make his way to the big screen at some point in the coming years. In true comics fashion, the overall Spider-Man franchise has become increasingly adept and comfortable with crossover events, with Spider-Man: No Way Home arguably pulling off the most important Spider-Man crossover to date. If that trend continues, and other Spider-Man characters enter the live-action world (Miles Morales also fits into this category), then it would make sense for Isaac’s Miguel to make the jump from animation to the real world. Although it’s unclear if Isaac will ever actually step into the role of Spider-Man 2099 in live-action, audiences can catch his vocal performance as Miguel O’Hara when Part One of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse debuts in theaters on October 7, 2022.
