Here’s everyone in the Spiral cast, and where viewers may recognize them from. Starring Chris Rock, the 2021 movie is the ninth installment of the Saw franchise, and follows a detective who investigates Jigsaw-themed crimes. Spiral was directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who previously made Saw II, Saw III, and Saw IV.

In Spiral, homicide detective Zeke Banks (Rock) investigates a series of cop killings with his rookie partner, William Schenk. He also reaches out to his father Marcus, who previously worked as the Chief of Police years prior. When Zeke’s partners are targeted by a copycat killer, he learns about the suspect’s true motivations and how the murders connect to the homicide division.

The Spiral main cast includes big names like Rock and Samuel L. Jackson, but also showcases the talent of lesser-known performers such as Max Minghella and Marisol Nichols. Bousman’s film hasn’t received favorable reviews thus far, but the climax does indeed set up a future franchise installments. Here’s a breakdown of the main players in Spiral.

Chris Rock As Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks

Chris Rock stars as Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks, a homicide detective who prefers to work alone. When local cops are killed in copycat crimes, he teams up with a rookie officer to investigate. An iconic stand-up comedian, Rock was a Saturday Night Live cast member from 1990 to 1993. He later starred in the 2000s series Everybody Hates Chris and headlined the 2014 comedy Top Five. Rock’s other roles include Bobby Vale in the Netflix movie Dolemite Is My Name and Loy Cannon in Fargo season 4.

Max Minghella As William Schenk

Max Minghella co-stars as William Schenk, Zeke’s rookie partner who isn’t fond of corrupt police officers. Minghella potrayed Divya Narendra in The Social Network and Ben Harpen in The Ides of March. He also appeared as Richie Castellano in The Mindy Project and plays Nick Blaine in The Handmaid’s Tale.

Marisol Nichols As Angie Garza

Marisol Nichols portrays Angie Garza, Zeke’s colleague who assigns him to work with Schenk. She’s later tortured in a storage trap room. Nichols appeared as Dawnie in Scream 2 and starred in the 1997 franchise movie Vegas Vacation as Audrey Griswold. She later portrayed Nadia Yassir in 24, Corinne in Teen Wolf, and Hermione Lodge in Riverdale.

Samuel L. Jackson As Marcus Banks

Samuel L. Jackson appears as Marcus Banks, Zeke’s father and a former police chief who is targeted by a killer. Jackson is best known for starring as Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction and Ordell Robbie in Jackie Brown. He also portrays Nick Fury in the MCU and Augustus Gibbons in the xXx movie franchise.

Spiral’s Supporting Cast & Characters

Dan Petronijevic as Marv Boswick: A dirty cop who is tortured at the beginning of the film, the result of lying in court hearings. Dan Petronijevic portrayed J.M. Brouillard in 19-2 and appeared in Suicide Squad as Anvil.

Richard Zeppieri as Fitch: A detective who is abducted after the opening subway sequence. Richard Zeppieri portrayed Frank Tate in Earth: Final Conflict and Tony Zucco in Titans.

Genelle Williams as Lisa Banks: Zeke’s ex-wife. Genelle Williams portrayed Sister Judith in Orphan and Lucy Svensson in Family Law.
