One fan video shows how to beat all death games in Squid Game. Netflix’s latest hit is a South Korean dark comedy centered on a group of people competing in a survival game. Little do they know, however, that while the games look harmless as traditional children’s pastimes, all of them have deadly twists. Failing to finish means getting killed.

Written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, Squid Game was released in September 2021 and quickly became the streamer’s number one offering in several countries. It featured an ensemble of characters, but its primary lead was Seong Gi-hun/No. 456 (Lee Jung-jae). A divorced chauffeur who’s neck-deep in debt for his gambling ways, he was enticed to join the mysterious game after being recruited by the salesman (Gong Yoo). In the end, Gi-hun ended up the winner of the latest installment of Squid Game, taking home 45.6 billion won. But due to the trauma he suffered from witnessing all the deaths of his friends, not to mention being subjected to extreme stress for an extended period of time, he struggled to enjoy the money that he earned.

Thanks to its fresh and dark spin to typical game shows, Squid Game has become Netflix’s newest surprise hit — so much so that streaming boss Ted Sarandos predicted that it could be their biggest show ever. With that comes a lot of interest in the six games in the show. YouTube channel Cinema Summary breaks down each of them and suggests the best way to survive the levels. In Red Light, Green Light, he points out that the best strategy is to move securely and stay to the sides. In Sugar Honey Combs, one must be innovative, exactly what Gi-hun did by licking his honeycomb to ensure that it doesn’t crack while shaping it. The same mindset is needed in Tug of War, Marbles, and Glass Stepping Stones – since the workers don’t seem to care if one cheats or not, they might as well do everything in their power to ensure winning. Finally, for the Squid Game, he cites that being on the defensive is much easier, especially since one is equipped with a steak knife. Watch his full breakdown below:

It is quite impressive how much time and effort Cinema Summary put into analyzing each death game in Squid Game. But, at the end of the day, one also needs a lot of luck in surviving each level. Fortunately, Gi-hun seems to have enough to win. If anything, it was his childhood friend, Cho Sang-woo (Park Hae-soo), who had been the most logical throughout the whole debacle. While he was ruthless and what he did to Ali (Anupam Tripathi) was downright cruel, considering the circumstances, it made sense that he was willing to stop at nothing to ensure not just winning, but coming out of the whole nightmare alive. In the end, however, Gi-hun emerged as the winner.

Squid Game‘s ending lends itself to a second season. For Hwang, however, he recently revealed that he hasn’t considered doing a sequel just yet. Not that he’s opposed to it, there’s just no concrete plans for its story at this point. The filmmaker was also candid about how tiring it was to work on the show since he directed all episodes on top of writing them.  That said, given how popular it has been for Netflix, the chances that they leave the show like that are very slim to none.
