Rey became the star of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and one of the most important characters in the entire Skywalker Saga. From the moment where Rey caught Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber, to the moment where she and Kylo Ren united against the Praetorian Guard in Snoke’s throne room, Rey was almost always at the center of the best moments in the sequel trilogy.

Many fans have celebrated Rey through their stunning fan art. Some of these images are similar to the Rey audiences know and love while others depict dark Rey, a version of the character who was first teased in a trailer for The Rise of Skywalker.

10 Rey On Jakku

There is incredible detail in GUWEIZ’s fan art of Rey. From the color in her cheeks to the strands of hair, and the strong winds blowing sand around her, every detail feels real.

This fan art also does an excellent job of capturing how Rey survived and overcame the harsh conditions that surrounded her life on Jakku. Rey worked hard just to get by, but she was always bolstered by her inner strength and a refusal to quit.

9 Rey & BB-8

This fan art by jpbijos is downright adorable. It’s lovely to see Rey and BB-8 goofing off and just having a good time together as she uses the Force to levitate the droid in the air.

The art style and the color scheme also do a nice job of conveying a playful tone. It’s sweet to see this from Rey & BB-8, whose bond largely kick-started the sequel trilogy and stayed strong throughout all the films.

8 Dark Rey

Many fans were thrilled when dark Rey was first teased in a trailer for The Rise of Skywalker. While dark Rey didn’t end up having much of a role in the actual film, plenty of people have made up for that by creating their own illustrations of the character.

Prototype47 created a particularly stunning depiction of dark Rey. Every detail conveys her calm, confident, and controlled darkness. The clothing style makes sense with Rey’s aesthetic in the previous films while also updating it for her turn to the dark side. The dark background and the double-sided red lightsaber serve to enhance the fan art even further.

7 Young Rey & Ben Solo

Throughout the sequel trilogy, fans came up with many theories to explain the respective backstories of Rey and Ben Solo and how their pasts were connected. While some of those theories panned out and others didn’t, Milady666 gifted fans with art featuring younger versions of Rey and Ben Solo in the top left of this piece.

This image offers a look into an alternate version of the sequel trilogy, one where both Rey and Ben could’ve trained under Luke Skywalker and learned how to be Jedi together. The look of amazement in young Rey’s eyes is adorable. It’s also nice to see Ben looking calm, composed, and at peace with himself as opposed to the inner torment he constantly struggled and suffered with as Kylo Ren.

6 Rey, Leia, & Padmé

Rey, Leia, and Padmé are all incredible characters. As the leading women in Star Wars, they provided positive and powerful representation for fans of all ages.

Through beautiful fan art created for May the 4th, daekazu captured the strength and compassion of these remarkable women. This is further complemented through the consistent color scheme and aesthetic that depicts all three women and how much they mean to the Star Wars fandom.

5 Rey, Finn, & Poe

The best part of this image is BB-8 trying to squeeze in between Rey and Finn. This fan art was created by Withoutafuss shortly after The Force Awakens was released in theaters. BB-8 forged close bonds with both Rey and Finn in that film and of course, he was already close with Poe.

It’s wonderful to see Rey with her new friends and feeling like part of the larger group. One of the criticisms of the sequel trilogy is that Rey didn’t get to spend enough time with these characters. In the films, this group didn’t begin interacting and going on adventures until The Rise of Skywalker. This fan art was ahead of the game as right after The Force Awakens it showed the power of the group being united and happy.

4 Dark Rey With A Scar

This variation of dark Rey seems to draw heavily from her climactic duel with Kylo Ren in The Force Awakens. The artist Holepsi has given Rey a facial scar that looks similar to the one Kylo Ren sustained in his duel with Rey. The snowy forest in the background also looks similar to the part of Starkiller Base where Rey and Kylo Ren engaged in combat.

Fans can debate the significance of these similarities. It could mean that dark Rey is trying to be like Kylo Ren or it could offer insight into an alternate universe where Rey is the individual who turned to the dark side and Ben Solo is the hero the galaxy needs.

3 Sparkling Jakku

This fan art by ryky appears to be more focused on Jakku than it is on Rey, but that doesn’t make it any less gorgeous. This depiction of Jakku is practically sparkling and a visual treat to look at.

It is full of hope and possibility, which is exactly what Rey needed after spending a life scavenging on Jakku. That makes it fitting for BB-8 to appear in the image as well considering that the moment he crossed paths with Rey was the moment that her life forever opened up in ways she never could’ve imagined.

This fan art freezes that moment in time, a moment of pure joy before Ben loses his life. This is the ending some fans would’ve preferred and for others, it’s just a beautiful moment to look at.

1 Hooded Dark Rey

Here, Ty-reylo’s hooded version of dark Rey is particularly formidable. She’s able to manipulate the world around her with little effort. Like many others who have been consumed by the dark side, Rey’s eyes are yellow.

She wields her double-bladed red lightsaber with prowess and the energy of the dark side practically emanates from her. This is the kind of person Emperor Palpatine would’ve been proud to call his granddaughter.
