There is no doubt that season two of The Mandalorian delivered on all fronts, being one of the best pieces of Star Wars content ever produced, adding so much to the rich lore while contained in the wonderful story fans were introduced to in season one. Baby Yoda (or the Child) was, of course, a prominent part of the season, remaining the source of much mystery, with one such mystery finally solved; his true name, Grogu.

Grogu continues to add to the lore of the unknown green species that, as of now, is limited to three people, Grogu, Yoda, and the far less known Yaddle, who very well could have a meaningful connection to everyone’s favorite fifty-year-old baby phenomenon.

10 Yaddle – Fate Unknown

In the current canon, little is known about Yaddle or her story, with the character having very few appearances in it, with most of them simple fleeting mentions like in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

She does appear in an issue of the phenomenal Darth Vader comic, but this is merely a vision, not the real Yaddle. After the Battle of Naboo and the events of The Phantom Menace, Yaddle stepped away from the Jedi Council. Her future beyond that point and whether or not she survived through the events of Order 66 and the time of the Galactic Empire is, as of now, unknown in canon.

9 Related To Grogu – Family

The most blatantly obvious connection that could link Yaddle and Grogu is that the two are somehow related by blood and are family, with there being only three known members of the species, it is a typical assumption to make.

While it is unlikely Grogu is the son of Yaddle, it is not impossible, and even if they are not immediate family Grogu could be a nephew of the Jedi Master, going off the assumption that these beings are born the same way as every other and not born out of the Force.

8 Yaddle – Willingly Stepped Back From The Jedi Order

Many hardcore fans and prequelists have noted Yaddle’s absence from the Jedi Council past the point of The Phantom Menace, being replaced in the group by Jedi Master Shaak Ti, leading to questions of what happened to Yaddle.

Of course, as also mentioned earlier, her ultimate fate is unknown, but what is known is that she willingly left the Jedi Council, taking a step back from the order before the Clone Wars, with Grogu potentially being a reason for this split.

7 Related To Grogu – Connected By Their Species

If it has not already been made clear, there is a finite amount of information known about the Yaddle-Yoda-Grogu species, not even a name or a planet. Fans know that they are green, live very long, and thus far, all seem to have a strong connection to the Force.

It seems as though this species, whenever it is explored, will be shown to be one with a strong connection to the mystical source of power, and should this be the case, perhaps there will be a mental or spiritual connection shared with members of the species, such as Yaddle and Grogu.

6 Yaddle – 477 In The Phantom Menace

In The Phantom Menace, Yoda is 864 years old, having lived through the High Republic era, and even long before, as a Jedi and powerful Force user. Yaddle is far younger than Yoda but far older than Grogu.

With the movie taking place in 32BBY, and Yaddle having been born in the year 509BBY, 387 years after Yoda, Yaddle is at the age of 477, presumably around halfway through her life if Yoda is the measuring stick.

5 Related To Grogu – Helped Him Survive

Little Grogu may be called Baby Yoda, but he is in fact fifty years old, a baby only due to the aging and longevity of his mysterious species, meaning Grogu was, in fact, alive during the events of the prequel trilogy and raised at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

Little else is known about those events other than that Grogu was rescued and went into hiding; with her lesser role in the order and unknown fate, it is entirely possible that the figure who helped Grogu and protected him was a member of his own species, Yaddle.

4 Yaddle – Model For A Young Yoda

The character model of Yoda has undergone a good handful of on-set changes over the years, from the original puppet to a younger version in the prequels, to a CGI version, back to a puppet ghost in the sequel trilogy.

Yaddle was also a puppet, and, in fact, behind the scenes, was a concept design by Iain McCaig for a young Yoda, eventually created for The Phantom Menace and operated by Phil Eason as Yaddle.

3 Related To Grogu – Trained Him

Going back to Grogu and his time on Coruscant in the Jedi Temple, like all Jedi of that era, there is no doubt that Grogu not only met but was trained by Yoda, alongside other Jedi Masters of the time.

One such mentor and trainer could have very well been Yaddle, an experienced, wise, and powerful female Jedi in her own right, ignoring her similarities to Yoda. As a youngling, Grogu was likely paid a lot of attention due to his immense raw connection to the Force.

2 Yaddle – Use Of Obscure Force Abilities

Speaking of Yaddle being a powerful Jedi who had similarities to Yoda, Yaddle was skilled in the Force, and as one of the eldest Jedi Masters, she had a lot of experience in dealing with the Force and its mystical ways.

With this, Yaddle became especially skilled in the obscure Force powers not usually seen or even allowed by the Jedi Order had it not been for Yaddle’s strength and capability. One such example is the power of morichro, an ability of ancient Jedi, not usually permitted by the Jedi Order of then. The power slowed the bodily functions of the recipient to the point of death, a brutal skill.

1 Related To Grogu – She Found Him

There have been a good few examples of Force-sensitive people getting found across the Galaxy by the Jedi, such as Anakin by Qui-Gon or Ahsoka Tano by Plo Koon. The records of Force-sensitive children were often kept on holocrons, but Grogu could have been different.

After all, there has been no hint at Yoda, Yaddle, or Grogu’s place of birth, so it is not out of the realm of possibility that Yaddle not only trained Grogu during his time on Coruscant but was, in fact, the one who brought him there in the first place.
