Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California has bumped up its release date. Originally planned for 2020, the convention was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to August 2022 marking a three-year gap since Star Wars Celebration 2019. However, as it appears more venues are opening up sooner, and to coincide with the Memorial Day weekend that Star Wars films often occupied until the release of The Force Awakens made Star Wars a Christmas release.

Star Wars Celebration 2022 will now take place between May 26 to May 29, 2022, according to the official Star Wars website. The celebration will arrive a week after the 20th anniversary of Attack of theClones, continuing a tradition. Star Wars Celebration 2019 arrived on the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace and Star Wars Celebration 2017 arrived on the 40th Anniversary of the original Star Wars. Fans who already purchased tickets will have them transferred, and those that wish for a refund have until June 11, 2021, to do so. The official Star Wars Celebration Twitter account tweeted out an image confirming the date change:

Fans will certainly have a lot to look forward to at Star Wars Celebration 2022. 2021 has mainly focused on the High Republic publishing line as there are three Star Wars series set for this year with The Bad Batch airing 16 episodes through the summer and Star Wars: Visions and Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett set for later this year. 2022 should see more Star Wars television shows and films either getting set to premiere or entering production. Fans can expect to see footage for Obi-Wan and Andor, as well as news regarding Rangers of the New Republic, Ashoka, and even Patty Jenkins’ Star Wars: Rogue Squadron film.
